Weekly Worship & Prayer during Lent
Join us as we continue our monthly Worship and Prayer service with a special weekly Lenten series from March 12 to April 9. Lent is a season for reflection and spiritual growth as we prepare for the joy of Easter, and this five-week journey will provide an opportunity to deepen our faith through prayer, contemplative practices, and worship. Our evenings will be centered around the theme of gardening; like seeds planted in rich soil, nourished by prayer, scripture, and the light of Christ, we are called to cultivate a deeper, more fruitful faith.
Each Wednesday evening, we will gather for a fellowship dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by a time of scripture, song, and guided prayer at 6:15 PM. Whether you are seeking a new Lenten discipline or simply longing for a space to draw closer to God, we invite you to make the most of this season with us. All are welcome! Nursery is provided.

We have a beautiful Easter Sunday tradition of church members bringing flowers from home to decorate the cross outside the sanctuary. The flowering cross not only serves as a beautiful decoration for Easter, but also symbolizes the new life that comes from Christ’s death and resurrection. We are seeking someone to continue this meaningful tradition by serving as the coordinator for the flowering cross. This would include preparing the cross for flowers before Easter, receiving flowers on Easter Sunday morning and adding them to the cross, and working with our flower and worship guild. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Beth Smith at 478-719-9041. | |

Mulberry Family,
In January of 1999 I stood at the front of the sanctuary with my grandparents, Gloria and Maurice Wynn, and answered a few questions posed by The Rev. Creede Hinshaw. He asked if I would give "The Berry" my prayers, my presence, my gifts, my service and my witness. All three of us wholeheartedly said yes. What I never expected was that Mulberry would give us all of those things in return in such abundance. Meaningful worship, comfort in loss, laughter in fellowship, and inspiration in study have endeared us to each other. When I got the call to ministry, it was all of you who joyfully sent me on my way with your encouragement and prayers. Now, as I come to the end of my time at Candler and I move to becoming a provisional Elder in the UMC, I cannot help but stop and say thank you. Your emotional, spiritual, and financial support has been vital in this journey. Becoming a provisional Elder also means that my membership will now be held by the South GA Conference. It is bittersweet to think that after 26 beautiful years I will no longer officially be a Mulberry member. And while that may be true on paper, Mulberry will always be my home church. It is the place I go when I want to sit and be filled. It is the place that welcomes me enthusiastically and with open arms. But especially, Mulberry will always be the place that holds me close with its prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
Phillipians 1:3-5: I thank my God for every remembrance of you, always in every one of my prayers for all of you, praying with joy for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
In His Name,
Rev. Katie Griffis

A Bicentennial Moment
In anticipation of Mulberry’s upcoming Bicentennial Celebration in 2026, the Leonard Hill Cochran Historical Room presents a moment of Mulberry history.
The following are excerpts from the Report of The Music Committee chaired by A. S. Hatcher, Jr. to the Board of Stewards November 23, 1953:
“Aims: Support an inspiring worship service with dynamic and inspiring music, to bring more active participation in the music program to bring a closer working relationship between the Music Committee and the Music Director, to create a greater awareness of the importance of music through the church, to integrate music with overall church planning.
Progress: Music Director has met with Sunday School leaders, Men’s Club, Parents’ Group and the Commission on Education to become acquainted with them and lay a foundation for closer associations. Staff meetings now include the Music Director.
Music Director and Director of Religious Education have met frequently to discuss ways of developing an integrated program. They are collaborating on a Christ Carol-Sing to be given out doors in the Church courtyard on Friday night December 17. This will involve all choirs and the Sunday School and the whole church membership. It will be announced in the bulletin next Sunday and will be given wide publicity through the city We hope to make it a great annual civic affair in years to come. The Hymn of the Month has been instituted. Each month a hymn is featured and a page is written about it. It is distributed throughout the Sunday School and at the worship services one Sunday in each month. A Vesper Choir has been organized. This choir has received the best response from the Junior High School children and has a regular membership of fifteen. They are attending rehearsal faithfully and are patiently training themselves to become a performing choir. At present they are learning how to conduct themselves as a choir in the Sanctuary on Sundays evenings, and the special music is being provided by soloists. New Junior Choir vestments have been purchased and Vesper Choir Robes are on order. We now have three choirs in operation; the Junior Choir with 28 members, the Vesper Choir with 15 members and the Adult Choir with 14 members. Anyone who either sings commercially or just likes to sing for the fun of it, contact Mrs. Ingley so that we may find a place for you in the Music program of our Church.”

Morning Prayer of Petition
God of the still small voice, today slow me down and calm my spirit so that I can hear you:
- calling me out of my comfort zone,
- prompting me to reach out to a friend,
- nudging me to speak up and make my voice known,
- convicting me to confront that which is unhealthy in my own life.
May I be more attentive today to the ways your Spirit is speaking to me, and may I have the willingness to listen. Amen.

Evening Prayer of Gratitude
Mighty God, with a word you brought the creation into being and ever since you have been speaking life into existence. Thank you for the ways that you speak to me, for:
- moments of realization and clarity,
- new insights and perspectives,
- reminders of encouragement and hope,
- challenges and circumstances that push me to grow or change.
Open my ears, that I may hear your voice more clearly each day. Amen.
