This week we're presenting The Umbrella Arts Center, Boston Sculptors Gallery and Fairfield University Art Gallery.
This week, sculpture is in the spot light with three exhibits that show what artists can do with clay, wood, plaster, paint and all other kinds of media. From pushing the boundaries of ceramics to hyper-realistic explorations of desserts and sweet treats, these artists are doing something fresh with their work.

The Umbrella Arts Center presents Earthworks: Tradition, Influence, Innovation, a juried show that celebrates "the depth of history, tradition, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics" and the ways that modern ceramicists continue to push the boundaries of the medium. The show is juried by Ayumi Horie a Maine-based potter who was the recipient of the 2022 Maine Craft Artist Award from the Maine Craft Association. "What makes this show worth experiencing is the breadth of aesthetics, approaches, and ways of seeing a material that is at once so common and so underseen," wrote Horie in a statement. The gallery is open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Umbrella Arts Center is located at 40 Stow Street, Concord, MA. For more information, please visit here.

Boston Sculptors Gallery presents Mo Kelman: Water Spirits which showcases the work of Rhode Island-based sculptor and artist Mo Kelman who describes her work as "driven by contrasts and interactions between the built environment and the natural world." Most of Kelman's work consists of "simple, malleable materials" like wood, wire and bamboo. According to Kelman, "transparency, lightness and shadows are essential elements" of her work. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boston Sculptors Gallery is located at 486 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA. For more information, please visit here.

The gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fairfield University Art Gallery is located at 200 Barlow Road, Fairfield, CT.
