IN-PERSON RACING RETURNS!!!
Greetings!

We are happy to be writing to you today to announce the return of In-Person Events! There is a LOT of importation information below, so please read the entire email carefully.

Background

We want to thank ALL of our customers for their support in a year that has been devastating for so many companies. We have only recently been able to start to rebuild the event team that helps to produce the events you enjoy so much. We are asking for your continued patience as we work through final preparations for the return of In-Person Events.

Events Update

Unfortunately, we are unable to bring you two of our most popular events, Toronto and Wasaga Beach. The City of Toronto Parks, who manage events on Toronto Island, and Ontario Parks, who manages the "Beach" in Wasaga Beach, will not grant us the requisite permits because of the size and scope of our races. We look forward to the return of the Toronto Island Triathlon and the Wasaga Beach Tri in 2022. We will be hosting the Toronto Island Virtual Event in August of this year. Please see the details below.

Now for the really GOOD NEWS, we will be able to host Three (3) In-Person Events this year! Gravenhurst and Rose City (Welland) can be held and we please to announce that the Barrie Triathlon is now part of the MSC family of races!

Both Gravenhurst and Rose City (Welland) will have races options over three (3) days. Gravenhurst from Fri Sept 10th to Sun Sept 12th and Rose City (Welland) on NEW Dates from Fri Sept 17th to Sun Sept 18th.

We are beyond excited to have been passed the torch for the Barrie Triathlon by the long-time local organizers. We had planned to have Barrie join the Series in 2022; however, given that Wasaga Beach and Toronto Island cannot be held, we worked quickly with our contacts at the City of Barrie to host the event on Sunday August 22nd, 2021 The Barrie Tri comes with over 25 years of history and a bright future now that the revitalization of the Barrie Waterfront is nearly complete.

Toronto Island - Virtual

We will offer Toronto Island as a Virtual Event this August with all distances from Give-It-A-Tri to Olympic Distance with both Triathlon and Duathlon options.

As we reported earlier in the month, many first-time participants have really enjoyed this low-stress environment for their first event as well as seasoned racers looking to stay sharp. Our Virtual Events have also been welcomed by those that live too far away from our typical race venues. The Toronto Island Virtual event will run from Friday Aug 6th to Sunday Aug 29th and Registration will Open HERE on Friday July 30th at 9AM.

Barrie - In-Person

This year we will offer both a Sprint Triathlon and a Sprint Duathlon on Sunday August 22nd. As the event involves a closed multi-loop Bike Course along Lakeshore Dr in Barrie, the event will feature early morning wave starts. We do plan to bring back the Kids of Steel in 2022 and we hope to expand to two days of racing

Gravenhurst - In-Person

Will feature three (3) days of race options on Fri Sept 10th, Sat Sept 11th and Sun Sept 12th with the Triathlons featuring the iconic JUMP! from the Muskoka Steamships.

The final capacity for each day is still being determined but should remain close to historic norms at around 450 Triathletes and 100 Duathletes per day with all events taking place in the morning:
- Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon events on Friday and Saturday
- Olympic Triathlon and an International Distance Duathlon on Sunday

Rose City (Welland) - In-Person

Will feature three (3) days of race options on Fri Sept 17th, Sat Sept 18th and Sun Sept 19th. For 2021, we were successful in moving Rose City (Welland) to September and plan for the event to return to June in 2022:
- Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon events on Friday and Saturday
- Give-It-A-Tri on Saturday Afternoon
- Long Course - Tentatively Sunday

The Long Course Triathlon and Duathlon are contingent on some significant roadwork being completed by late August. If in mid-August, the roadwork remains on schedule, we will announce the Long Course events. Should the roadwork NOT stay on schedule, we will offer an additional day of Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon events.

The Final capacity for each day is still being determined, but we expect to be able to host just under 400 participants per day. There will be individual start times throughout the day for Sprint and Give-It-A-Tri events. Should we be able to host the Long Course event, it would have its typical early morning wave starts.

2021 In-Person Events Registration Opening

We plan to open registration to the GENERAL PUBLIC on Wednesday, Aug 4th at 9AM - so set a calendar reminder NOW!

For all those that deferred a 2020 entry, we will open PREFERRED registration on Friday, July 30th at 9AM that will accessible ONLY with an "Access Code" which will be sent to you in a separate email.

Access Codes

Those that deferred a 2020 entry will receive an email on Thursday with an “Access Code” which is separate from your "2021 Entry Code". Your “Access Code” acts like a key that unlocks entry to registration and will allow you to register before we open up to the general public.

NOTE – Deferrals will have Five (5) Days to use their "Access Code" registration opens to the general public - so please act quickly to secure your spot in your preferred race!

This email will also include the final prices for all 2021 Events (including HST and Processing). This will allow you to use our Code Tool HERE to either Split, Merge or Change your codes in order to maximize the value of your entry from 2020.

Using Your 2021 Entry Credit Codes

If you deferred a single entry, we sent you a personalized email on March 19th with your “2021 Entry Code”.

If you deferred multiple entries, we sent you a personalized email on March 24th with your “2021 Entry Codes”.

Please look back in your emails to find your “2021 Entry Codes” on the dates listed above. For Gmail Users – Please look in your “Promotions” tab as often our emails find themselves routed there.

Given all of the changes to this year’s events and dates, we are unable to move your entry 2020 forward to the same event in 2021. Instead, your “2021 Entry Credit Codes” allow you to spend the value of your 2020 entry(s) on any event(s) this summer.

Please look for the personalized emails sent in mid-March before contacting our office. We will do our best to respond to any requests in a timely fashion as we continue to rebuild our event team.

Wrap-Up

We wanted to thank everyone for their patience and support as we work through this unprecedented situation. It has been, by far, the greatest challenge that MultiSport Canada has faced in our nearly 20 years producing events.

We are so happy to report that Racing is Back!
