Introducing AHFA Manager of the Year Tenna Moultrie

Congratulations to Tenna Moultrie for winning the Alabama Housing Finance Authority’s 27th annual Manager of the Year award. Site and property managers for any development financed with AHFA-administered HOME funds or Housing Credits were eligible for nomination.

Tenna has managed two Albertville properties since July 2022,

overseeing the daily operations of Cryar Homes and Angela Meadows. These developments are home to a total of 88 families.

In Tenna’s nomination package, Misha Lewis, division manager for Olympia Management, wrote, “Tenna takes pride in keeping the curb appeal of her property looking great. She always has her property landscaped well, which encourages prospective tenants to live there. Her paperwork is always accurate and submitted on time. Tenna is an exemplary property manager who is well deserving of the Manager of the Year award.”

An Arab native, Tenna brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. The resident letters accompanying her nomination testify to her dedication to maintaining positive relationships, addressing safety issues, and checking on residents facing challenges:

  • “She cares about her tenants. Not only does she come in and do her job, but she also goes that extra mile to help someone in need.” – R.B.
  • “She takes pride in the apartments. Since she has been here, we now have security cameras, speed bumps, and overall, the apartments look great. – E.E.
  • “I have been dealing with breast cancer for the past year. Tenna has gone above and beyond to help me. She is amazing and means the world to me.” –J.B.

The unexpected nomination for Manager of the Year left Tenna shocked and elated. As she stood before her colleagues to accept the award, she recalled the timeless adage: “It takes a village to raise a child.”

“Little did I know that within the walls of Olympia Management’s home office, I had found my own extraordinary village – a network of remarkable individuals who uplifted me in countless ways,” she said, “I am truly blessed to be a part of Olympia Management.”

Fair Housing Summit Highlights Housing Trust Fund

In honor of Fair Housing Month, AHFA staff members attended the Maggie Street Housing Summit on April 18. The summit covered topics such as homeownership, multifamily rental programs and veterans' housing. Multifamily Administrator David Young and Multifamily Manager Chris Hert described the AHFA-administered programs that fund the creation of safe and affordable housing.

One such program is the National Housing Trust Fund (HTF) plan, which is designed to provide funds to develop new construction of decent, safe and sanitary rental housing, with an initial preference for ELI homeless or transitioning veterans, ELI populations with physical or mental disabilities, and homeless populations located primarily in underserved rural areas.
