Multnomah County Holds

Summer Preparedness Briefing

Multnomah County Emergency Management holds annual seasonal preparedness briefings and workshops on extreme summer heat, wildfire evacuations, and extreme winter weather. Invitees include representatives from many county departments, county leadership and external partners.

On June 3rd, presenters from several County departments along with guests from Portland Solutions shared briefings from their respective teams with regards to their extreme heat response plans including updates, collaborations and challenges.

We had one of our largest attendee counts for this seasonal preparedness briefing with 64 people sharing their work and engaging in conversation. Among the topics discussed, attendees spoke about new overnight shelters, the need for shelter locations in East County and the need to train volunteers who serve in shelters. Additionally, it was confirmed that there will be a continuation of the air conditioner distribution program to those in need via 311 and the Portland Cooling Project.
