Cascadia Playbook V3

Oregon’s Office of Emergency Management developed a Cascadia Playbook concept to serve as a reference guide for how state agencies across Oregon will coordinate efforts during a major disaster. Version 3 of the Cascadia Playbook was published in October 2018 and incorporates lessons learned from the Cascadia Rising 2016 exercise and critical input from emergency support function partners.

44th Annual Natural Hazards Research Workshop

The 44th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop will take place July 14-17 in Broomfield, Colorado, and will begin receiving workshop session input January 16 .
 
The theme of convergence will explore how people are working together across traditional disciplinary and organizational boundaries and building new coalitions to solve ever-more pressing challenges before, during, and after disaster.

OpsCenter Exercise Findings

Please review the completed After-Action Report from the recent OpsCenter November 2018 Exercise hosted by the Office of Emergency Management (MCEM). This exercise specifically focused on the logistical and financial responsibilities of resources being requested through the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Our Request : Please review the agreed-upon processes detailed on page 4 for awareness. This is the expected process for resources being sent to the County EOC. Please reach out to MCEM Training & Exercise Coordinator, robert.quinn@multco.us , with any questions about the After-Action Report or Improvement Plan. The report can be viewed here .
Congratulations to MCARES for taking 1 st  place in the Statewide ARES 2018 Fall SET ( Simulated Emergency Test ) MacGyver task! The task was to relay an ICS213 message different ways with the final leg going to Grant County, Oregon. Multnomah ARES relayed a message via 10 hops which included a kayak trip on the Columbia River and bicycle ride as well as several amateur radio modes.  It was a great team effort and 31 members helped in the many roles of the relay. Each leg of the message journey was video recorded (see video above). The 1st place prize was a sound card modem which will live at the Gresham EOC to enhance their ham radio capabilities.
