2026 Municipal Elections

Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election took place by internet and phone from Wednesday October 14 to Monday October 26.

We would like to thank all the candidates who ran in the Election, and we look forward to working with the new and returning Councillors and Mayors. To see the Certified results go to:

Township of Lake of Bays

Town of Huntsville

The Lake of Bays Association was actively involved in the election by:

• Publishing frequent NewsFlashes with information on how and when to vote, how to ensure you are on the voters list, and confirmation that seasonal residents can vote in both their permanent and seasonal municipalities.
• Distributing a slate of nine questions to every candidate and publishing their responses in full on our website, and a selection of their responses in our Autumn 2026 Current Connection newsletter.
• Co-sponsoring an All Candidates Meet & Greet, and a Mayoral Debate for the Township of Lake of Bays.

LOBA does not endorse candidates but we advocated for elected representatives who prioritize:

• Action against climate change
• Sustaining healthy water quality
• Shoreline environment protection
• Strong Official Plan language
• Consistent application of the Official Plan and by-laws
• Effective by-law enforcement
• District-wide integrated watershed management
• Good municipal services with a responsible budget
• A year-round economy, and affordable community housing

The next municipal elections will be held in 2030 on the fourth Monday in October.
