LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM
(Oct-Dec)

The Township is broken up into three(3) Sectors for this service; Click here to find your sector. We cannot predict a specific collection day for your street but updates are sent out through the  Municipal Messenger , the Websites  "Township News",  and  "Department of Public Works Calendar".
Acceptable Materials and Guidelines for Curbside Placement:
  • All materials must be placed along the curb line, not in the street, and kept ten(10) feet from all storm drains.
  • Only leaves, grass, and plant vegetation may be combined in a pile together.
  • All materials should be placed loosely along the curb (no bags paper or plastic).
  • Do not place brush in leaf piles.
Unacceptable Materials:
  • Brush, dirt, logs, tree parts, tree stumps, & tree trunks.
2020 TRASH & RECYCLING SERVICES
In 2020 our Automated “Single Stream” Recycling Collection Program will move to a four day per week recycling collection service. Having obtained a third collection vehicle affords us the ability to increase recycling collection stops each day, resulting in fewer days required to collect recycling. Beginning January 6, 2020, our DPW will collect recycling on a four day per week basis, Monday thru Thursday. Some of our residents will continue to have recycling collection on the same day as in previous years, however, most residents will have trash and recycling collection on the same day. Please click here to find out your street's trash and recycling collection schedule.

There will be no trash and recycling collection on holidays; please refer to the holiday list below or refer to the 2020 Municipal Calendar that is mailed out annually in the beginning of the new year. Trash and recycling collection that falls on a holiday will be collected the following day. Each subsequent collection day will be pushed to the following day for the work week. For example, Martin Luther King’s birthday is observed on Monday, January 20, 2020. Monday’s trash and recycling have been rescheduled to Tuesday, and Tuesday’s to Wednesday, and so forth for the remainder of the week.

In the event of inclement weather, such as snow, ice storms, and hurricanes, the same schedule used for a Holiday will apply. If trash and/ or recycling services are suspended due to weather, your trash and/ or recycling collection will be the next day, i.e., a snow storm forces us to suspend trash collection on a Monday; Monday’s trash and recycling will be collected on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s to Wednesday, and so forth for the remainder of the week.
Asphalt Restoration of
Old Glen Rd. & Dwyer Lane
The Department of Public Works has scheduled the asphalt restoration of Old Glen Rd. and Dwyer Lane beginning Monday, December 2, 2019 . On Monday, December 2nd and Tuesday, December 3rd our contractor will remove the old asphalt; on Wednesday, December 4th and Thursday December 5th, new asphalt will be put in place.

This process is weather related so that inclement weather may affect the actual start and finish dates. It is our intention to provide access to these roads for all local residents and emergency personnel. If you plan to use these roads, please expect delays and allow yourselves enough additional travel time.

In 1978, Hillside volunteer Firefighters began selling Christmas trees as a service to the community. This planted the seed for what has become decades of tree sales and generations of loyal patrons. Hillside sells a variety of sizes and species to fit your home and your budget. And every customer receives the personal attention they deserve - from a fresh cut on the trunk to having the tree secured to your vehicle for your trip home.
Special thank you to Morris Township resident “Al” Albert DiAntonio who made the beautiful bows that will decorate Hillside Hose’s wreaths and grave blankets this year! This talented 89 year old Korean War vet has 10 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren and is the father of our Hillside Hose Ladies Auxiliary member  Lisa DiAntonio Olsen
