Washington Valley Schoolhouse 150th Birthday Celebration!
Sunday, Oct 6th
Pancake breakfast starts at 8AM.
Celebration party starts at 10:30am, with cake, champagne, games, singing Happy Birthday, games: trivia, scavenger hunt, 3 legged races, hula hoop, egg and spoon and empty-the-popcorn race.

What an exciting time! We hope you can come – bring family and friends and new neighbors!

The Fall Breakfast is one of our oldest traditions dating back to the 1800’s. The men in the Valley, who farmed their land (the Valley was clear of trees then) wanted to thank their families for all the work done on the farms. So they cooked breakfast in the Fall after harvest time and in the Spring after planting.

The Washington Valley Community Association (WVCA) has continued this tradition and the gentlemen in the Valley will be cooking for you, October 6th, 8am – 11am.

The ladies and gentlemen in the Valley will be continuing with the 150th Celebration Party starting at 10:30am, with cake, champagne, games, singing Happy Birthday (probably a few times)

Games are listed above and the Challenge of the Streets: The Valley Tug of War! We have a 50 foot rope, and those who are willing - please participate. There are 4 streets that come into the Valley: Whitehead, Washington Valley, Schoolhouse and Gaston. Wouldn’t it be challenging if we could have a competition for the strongest street?

Think about it! Bring your sneakers!
We hope to see you! Rain or Shine!

Crime Prevention Tips from the
Morris Twp. Police Department
Safeguard Your Vehicle
Vehicles are stolen for a variety of reasons, including theft for parts, insurance fraud, retagging, exporting, & joy riding. Help prevent theft & damage to your vehicle:

  • Always lock and secure your vehicle, including putting your windows up
  • Always activate your alarm when you leave your vehicle
  • Never leave keys in your vehicle
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle, including items such as a GPS, cell phone, laptop, tablet, or charging cord
  • Keep in mind suspects on previous occasions have used garage door openers located in the vehicles to open the garage door to allow access to other vehicles and the home.

Report suspicious activity right way!
911 or 973-539-0777
Safeguard Your House
  • All accessible windows need securing. Second-story windows can be accessed by ladder, trash cans, nearby trees, garage rooftops, or shrubbery, and basement windows are one of the most popular points of entry for a burglar
  • Illuminate the perimeter of your house and door areas with enough light to see
  • Use timers throughout the house that have variable time changes
  • Cut or trim shrubbery so that it does not obstruct viewing from inside or outside
  • Secure air conditioners to the window opening to prevent them from being pulled out or pushed in
  • Secure attached garage as you would your dwelling, as it is an access point into your home
  • Consider an alarm, security camera, ring...a variety of options now with different price ranges
