Message from the Mayor

Hello everyone,

I write this update with a strong sense of optimism as we prepare for a gradual reopening in Ontario. Thanks to the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers, we have seen tremendous success at Lambton County's vaccination clinics. As of this week, over 63% of Lambton County residents aged 18+ have received one or more doses.

As numbers begin to trend in the right direction, we are beginning to see the impact of everyone's efforts during the stay-at-home order. I cannot wait for the day we can announce a safe reopening and return to normalcy, but for now we must remain vigilant and continue to do our part as vaccination efforts continue.

As always, please remember that vaccines are by appointment only and must be made through the Lambton Public Health website (or by calling 519-383-8331 or toll free 1-800-667-1839).

Stay healthy, remain optimistic, and let's continue to do our part so that we can have a safe and fun summer in Lambton Shores.

Mayor Bill
COVID-19 Updates
Preparing for Ontario's Roadmap to Reopen Plan

The provincewide stay-at-home order has expired and the Ontario government has reinstated the provincial "emergency brake" measures until the province moves into Step 1 of the Reopening Ontario plan.

In accordance with the current provincial measures, Municipal Offices remain closed to the public. During these measures:

  • Municipal staff are working during this time and may be reached by phone and email.
  • Services such as building permits and licencing continue to be offered by appointment.
  • Municipal services such as road maintenance, water and wastewater operations, waste collection and fire/emergency response remain unaffected

Restrictions on short-term rentals, restaurants and social gatherings remain in place. Click here for more information about the latest municipal impacts.

Public Consultation: Short-Term Rentals

The Municipality of Lambton Shores has initiated a public consultation and review of short term rentals (STRs) to investigate the impact of STRs and identify public opinion regarding licensing and regulatory options.

As part of the consultation process, the public is asked to submit an online survey regarding STRs. Survey results will be limited to one per household. The survey is available until September 15, 2021.

Additional consultation phases are still to come, which will include:
  • Stakeholder meetings
  • Online public information centre
  • Direct mail to short-term rental property owners

More information about the consultation process can be found online.
Construction Notices

Thedford: asphalt resurfacing is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2021 on Ravenswood Line between Gordon Rd and 300 m east of Elizabeth Street. The project is expected to be complete by June 18, 2021. There will be times when the roadway will be obstructed with construction activities. More information.

Forest: Broadway Street reconstruction continues and is estimated to be completed by July 31, 2021. In order to ensure the health and safety of both crews and the public, Broadway Street will be closed to all but local traffic (those who need to use the road to access their property or a business). There is a local detour set up while the road is closed. Local businesses will remain open during construction. More information.
