Last Day to Register for the Webinar on Building Municipal Budgets

The risks impacting municipal budgets and capital projects are unprecedented. Scant materials, limited resources, supply chain disruptions, inflation, and ever-increasing construction costs are creating uncertainty in a volatile economic climate. To mitigate cost increases, local governments are carefully considering their budgets and these issues, including who is best placed to carry contractual risks of inflation on multi-year projects, and whether to purchase materials in advance.

Tomorrow from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., join SUMA for the webinar How to Build Municipal Budgets in an Uncertain Economic Climate. In this webinar, Ashley Stradeski, Director of Finance for the City of Yorkton, Corinne Bomben, Chief Financial Officer for the City of Prince Rupert, and Jeff Fielding, former City Manager for the City of Calgary, will discuss current risks associated with municipal budgets and capital investments, offer strategies to mitigate these risks, and share insights on how to approach budgeting challenges.
And Don't Miss Our Next May Webinar
Annually, millions of people are displaced from their homes as a result of wars, persecution, violence, human rights violations, and the effects of climate change. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, global numbers for displaced persons exceeded 84 million in 2021.

Are you wondering how you could welcome individuals or families who have been forcibly displaced from their home to your community? On May 17 at 10:00 a.m., join SUMA for the webinar Settling in Saskatchewan: Sponsoring Refugees and Displaced Persons in Your Community and learn about the process of sponsoring refugee families.

Congratulations to Our Winners

There are plenty of opportunities to win prizes during convention, whether through the in-app game, one of our many prize draws, or the draws held by many of our tradeshow vendors. But the chance to win does not end at the conclusion of convention.

All delegates who attended Convention 2022 in-person and returned their name badge at the end of the event were entered into a draw. We also held a draw for all the delegates who took the time to complete the 2022 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow Survey and shape future conventions.

The winner of the name badge draw is:
  • Kelvin Schapansky, Town of Strasbourg

We had two prizes this year for the 2022 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow Survey. Our winners are:
  • Ron Heisler, Town of Qu'Appelle
  • Darren Macdonald, City of Martensville

Congratulations to our three winners! And thank you to everyone who took the time to return their name badge and complete the Convention survey.
