Ways to Assist those Displaced from Ukraine
Saskatchewan has welcomed approximately 1,900 displaced Ukrainians since the start of the conflict with Russia, and the Government of Saskatchewan has committed to supporting three more chartered flights from Poland by March 2023.
To support their settlement, Saskatchewan is organizing a ‘One Stop Shop’ that brings together key services and resources, such as Social Insurance Numbers (SINs), health cards, banking, public housing, and employment. Also organized will be a community and career fair to connect these arrivals with communities, employers, and job opportunities.
Municipalities that would like to support these efforts and have community-specific information that will help to answer newcomers’ key questions, are asked to connect with their nearest Newcomer Gateway. There are 15 Newcomer Gateways in the province.
Employers with job opportunities are encouraged to post their vacancies on SaskJobs.ca and use #sksupportsukraine in their ad to communicate their interest in hiring displaced Ukrainians. An email will then be sent to those employers with details about the community and career fair. Employers will be able to express their interest in participating by contacting Rodney Antonichuk at the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training via email at:
rodney.antonichuk@gov.sk.ca.
Though organized around the arrival of a charter for displaced Ukrainians, the events are open to all newcomers.
- One-Stop-Shop, October 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- One-Stop-Shop, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- One-Stop-Shop, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Community and Career Fair, November 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The One-Stop-Shop will be held at the Wa Wa Shriners-2065 Hamilton Street and the Community and Career Fair will be held at the Viterra International Trade Centre at 1700 Elphinstone Street in Regina.

Effective Next Month: New Pricing for Shipping Labels
Effective November 15, the price of 1.36K shipping labels through SUMA's shipping labels program is increasing. The pricing change reflects an increase in Canada Post's prepaid shipping rates.
New shipping label pricing:
XPressPost 1.36K - $436.69
The price for XPressPost 5K will remain the same at $488.78.
Even with the new price, you will continue to save with SUMA's shipping label program. Purchasing shipping labels through SUMA's program saves your municipality more than 70 per cent when compared to the cost of purchasing shipping labels directly from Canada Post.

Tips for Managing Your Convention 2023
Hotel Reservations
Last month we opened hotel reservations for our 2023 Convention and Tradeshow. We are once again using our hotel booking system, Resiada, which allows you to view prices for all Convention hotels, see where they are located, check their availability, and book rooms. After booking, until you receive your hotel confirmation numbers just before Convention, you can also use Resiada to make changes to your reservations.
Changing or Cancelling Your Reservations
All reservation information is currently contained in Resiada. Therefore, the hotels are unable to make changes to any reservations at this time. To make changes, or to cancel a room, simply click the "Edit Reservations Now" button in the Group Reservation Acknowledgment email sent when you first made reservations. Can't find the email? Let us know and we will resend it.
Hotel Waitlist
If there is a hotel that you are interested in booking, but it is already sold out, you can join the waitlist for that hotel and be automatically updated if rooms become available.
Want to Stay Longer?
We have secured additional rooms at select Convention 2023 hotels for those looking to arrive on April 15 or stay until April 20. You can see what hotels have availability those days by visiting Resiada.
