Take a Walk on the Wildlife Side at North Creek County Park

Within a stone's throw (if you've got a really strong arm) of bustling down- town Mill Creek is another world hidden from view.
This 81-acre wildlife habitat, called North Creek Park, beckons the nature-lover and explorer in all of us. Here lurk the Great Blue Heron, the Common Snipe, Northern flicker,
Mallard duck, beaver, woodpecker, and a bevy of other wild critters. You can also spot the yellow water-flag and monkey flower, forget-me-nots, duckweed and other flora.
And yet, not a lick of Mukilteo muck (yes, that's what it's called), will muddy your boots-because this bog is spanned by a boardwalk, three-quarters of a mile in length
So stay high, stay dry, and while you're at it, stay for lunch. North Creek Park also has picnic shelters, picnic tables, and a playground structure (for all those little explorers).
In celebration of Snohomish County Parks' 50th anniversary, take $10-off North Creek Park shelters rental reservations by using the promo code BOARDWALK. Promo code is valid for reservations made and used during the month of March.
Visit for more park information or   to make shelter reservations.

The Secret World of Slugs and Snails:

Life in the Very Slow Lane

featuring author and entertainer David George Gordon

March 14, 7 p.m.

Northwest Stream Center, McCollum County Park

If you are a gardener or someone who simply likes to take long walks in the woods, this show is for you.

David will take you on a playful and magical journey through the world of the West Coast's much-maligned mollusks. Slugs and snails are more than mere garden pests. In fact, they have shaped world history. Snail farming dates back to 50 B.C. in Rome, and soldiers in Napoleon's army carried tinned snail meat for emergency rations!

Learn everything from "slug and snail love life" to the manufacture of synthetic slug slime! David, who is very well known for his insect cooking skills, will tell you how to "grow your own escargot" and will provide indispensable gardening tips.

After hearing David's presentation and seeing his amazing images, you'll never look at slugs and snails the same way again. They are much more interesting than you can possibly imagine...and consequently, this program is rated PG 13 - it's not for little kids!
There will be a book signing after the show.
McCollum County Park is located at 600 128th St. SE, Everett, WA 98208.
