Chickasaw Hall Groundbreaking

Built in 1917, Chickasaw Hall is a former dormitory that housed Chickasaw and Choctaw students attending the Murray State School of Agriculture. It will soon become a space for a 14-room boutique hotel that will serve guests of the College, as well as visitors to Tishomingo and the surrounding area.

Murray State College hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the historic Chickasaw Hall, located on Murray State's Tishomingo campus.

Ceremony speakers included:

*President Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College

*Governor Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation

*Charles McCall, Oklahoma Speaker of the House

*Leslie Larsen, Vice Chair, Murray State College Board of Regents

*Landrey Howard, Vice Chair, Murray State College Student Government Association.

The first floor of Chickasaw Hall will feature the Chickasaw Nation Chokka Kilimpi` program for Chickasaw and other First American students, providing academic counseling, tutoring, life skills training, and graduation and career planning.

Board of Regents Meeting

At this week's Board of Regents meeting, students and coaches were recognized for their support and achievements.

Murray State Head Softball Coach Aaron Mullens and Assistant Coach Charli Crawford for celebrated for their coaching successes this year. They each received custom bats with their national awards engraved on them.

Murray State students Walker Redman, Dillon Simpson and Skylar Davis were recognized for their immediate assistance to a student in a medical emergency situation.

They kept the student safe until emergency professionals arrived.

Representative Josh Cantrell attended the meeting to present a citation from the House of Representatives to Assistant Softball Coach Charli Crawford in honor of her being selected as the 2023 NJCAA Division 2 Easton/NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year.

Ardmore Education Forum

President Dr. Faltyn talked with Ardmore community members about Murray State and all of the great things happening at the college.

8th Grade Discovery Day

Approximately 500 8th grade students from Atoka, Caney, Kingston, Madill, Stonewall, Sulphur and Tishomingo visited Murray State's Tishomingo campus for a day of "discovery," learning about various career pathways available in southern Oklahoma.

Nursing Wins Blood Drive Trophy

Congratulations to the Nursing Department for winning the

Murray State College "Traveling" Blood Drive Trophy this month!

They helped save more than 350 lives during the August blood drive.

Ardmore Concurrent Night

Local concurrent students stopped by Murray State's Ardmore campus to learn about available resources, introducing them to the faculty and staff on campus who can be helpful to them.

Salsa Night Aggie Style

Thank you to the Cultural Events Committee, Student Life, and Annette Liceaga for hosting "Salsa Night Aggie Style" in the Ballroom this week.

Rodeo Victorious in First Competition of Season

Blake Carter won the Calf Roping Competition at the Colby Community College Rodeo last weekend!

Aggies Tabbed Players of the Week

Congratulations to Women's Soccer Goalkeeper, Jimena Guevara and Men's Soccer Midfielder, Joshua Adeyemi, on being named Region 2 Players of the Week!

The women's soccer team improved to 8-1-1 on the year with a 6-0 victory earlier this week, while the men's team is on a three-match win streak after defeating #12 Eastern Oklahoma State College and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in their previous two games.

Men's Golf Placed Fourth at NJCAA Preview

The #10 Aggies put together three solid rounds of golf at the NJCAA National Preview to finish as the top team in the district and fourth place overall in the tournament.

The Murray State College men's golf team will be back in action Oct. 2-3 as they host the Fall Aggie Invite in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
