Catch up on what's happening at Murray State!

Murray State College students, Lexi Ballard and Jimena Guevara, attended Oklahoma's Promise Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol this past Tuesday.

Both students were able to tour the Capitol, meet with Senator Chris Kidd and have an informative lunch discussion lobbying for Oklahoma's Promise with Senator Jerry Alvord and Representatives Tammy Townley and Josh Cantrell.

The day concluded with a special program where students heard from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor, Allison Garrett and Chair, Mike Turpen.

In addition, they heard personal stories from Representative Cyndi Munson, Senator John Michael Montgomery and Mike Jackson, Executive Director of the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency on the impact that Oklahoma's Promise has made on their lives.

Oklahoma's Promise is a program that offers qualified Oklahoma students the opportunity to earn a scholarship for college tuition.

This past Wednesday, Murray State hosted soon-to-graduate high school seniors. This special day granted soon to graduate high school seniors the opportunity to spend time on campus.

These high school seniors were able to partake in the full college experience by taking campus tours that were specific to their major, tour the dorms and eat lunch in the cafeteria.

Murray State's VP of Business Affairs, Justin Cellum; Public Information Officer, Robyn Peterson; Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, Jordyn Frazier; and MSC Police Chief, Kelly Perkinson, traveled to Washington D.C. to learn more about the important communications during a crisis and how multiple teams need to be involved.

The team also had time to see all of the typical "tourist" sites, such as the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

Dr. Catalin Dima, a piano professor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, held a free piano concert this past Thursday night at Fletcher Auditorium.

Dr. Dima has established himself as one of the leading artists of his generation. He has performed in numerous acclaimed venues across the United States and aboard. He is also a prize winner of numerous international piano competitions.

In his pursuit for innovative programming in concerts and recordings, Dr. Dima combines mainstream and rare piano repertoire, often focusing on Romanian, American,

and Japanese composers. 

Aggie Nation took part in a community cleanup effort Friday morning in Tishomingo.

The group started at in Pennington Park and worked its way through town.
