Johnston County Veterans Center Storm Shelter Dedication

Murray State's Brian and Ginger Cothran, and Jordyn Frazier attended the community storm shelter dedication ceremony for the Johnston County Veterans Center in honor of veteran Staff Sgt. Steve Huston. He is a former science professor at Murray State. His wife Judy served as a former Executive Director for the Murray State College Foundation.

Murray State Aggie Days

A total of 167 students have attended the first three days of freshman orientation. Faculty and staff provided information on the various resources available to them such as financial aid and academic advisement.


The last two orientation days are August 15 and 16.

Chickasaw Nation Secretary Elliott Visits Murray State

The Chickasaw Nation Department of Education Secretary Nathan Elliott visits Murray State for a tour of campus and updates with President Faltyn.

Murray State Nurses Attend ACEN Conference

Murray State College Dean of Nursing Malaika Horton, Assistant Director Brandie Gray and Faculty Member Bria Conner attended the 2024 ACEN Immersive Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.


The team actively participated in an in-depth exploration of the ACEN 2023 Standards, enhancing their knowledge and skills for nursing education program accreditation.

Murray State Veterinary Nursing Faculty Attend Annual Conference

Murray State College Veterinary Nursing Program Director Laura Pearce-Sandmann, and faculty members Priscilla Young, Aubree Goodwin and Carola Morrison attended the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators annual conference in Houston, Texas.


They connected with other educators and developed new ideas and techniques.

Oklahoma Quizbowl Camp

Murray State hosted the Oklahoma Quizbowl camp. More than 60 students attended the camp. It is designed to help middle and high school players develop strategies for student and preparation for academic competitions.

FHCSO Vickie Day Memorial Scholarship

The Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma presented a check for $4,000 to the Murray State College Foundation for the inaugural FHCSO Vickie Day Memorial Scholarship.


Four high school graduates who will attend Murray State this fall from the FHCSO service area were awarded $1,000 each.

Recipients are Bracie Gray, Atoka County; Brylee Rice, Coal County; Ella Parks, Johnston County; Tesla Stewart, Marshall County.

Ardmore Arbuckle Rotary Sunrise Golf Tournament

The Ardmore Arbuckle Sunrise Rotary held their 23rd Annual Night Golf Tournament. Twenty-six teams participated, and Murray State College was one of the sponsors for this event.

Tishomingo Police Department Holds Online Safety Course

Murray State College and the Johnston County Library hosted community members for an in-depth workshop on the basics of practicing online safety.


Tishomingo Police Chief Shannon Smith and Officer Ashley Hanks have been certified to serve on the Internet Crimes Against Children.

Aggies Named NJCAA Academic All-Americans

59 Murray State College student-athletes earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Academic Teams including seven Aggie athletic teams earning well above 3.0 GPAs.
