46th Annual Invitational Scholastic Meet

Murray State College hosted 1,000 students representing 54 schools during the 46th Annual Invitational Scholastic meet. Students enjoyed becoming familiar with campus and playing outdoor games in between testing as well as meeting new friends from other schools.

MSC Theta Kappa (PTK) Students

Two Murray State students recently received high honors within the PTK national association.

Justin Whittington's poem, "The Road," was selected to be published in the PTK's Nota Bene literary journal. 1,200 submissions were sent in; only 24 students were chosen.

Leslie Travis was selected as a 2023 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar. She will receive a $1,250 scholarship. More than 2,400 applications were received and evaluated on academic achievement, leadership, service and significant endeavors. She received the highest score for Oklahoma.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. It is made up of more than 3.8 million members, and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 countries; approximately 240,000 active members are in the nation's colleges.

Justin is a behavioral science major.

Leslie is in the physical therapist assistant program.

Susan Yeager Selected For Oklahoma Leadership Arts XII

School of Arts and Humanities Dean, Susan Yeager, was one of 31 Oklahomans selected for membership in the Oklahoma Arts Council Leadership Arts XII. Yeager and the other individuals selected have demonstrated vision, passion and a desire to discover how the arts fuel strong communities.

The state agency’s nationally recognized flagship leadership development program is offered every two years and equips 30 individuals from throughout the state to become leaders and advocates for the arts in their communities.

Murray State Shotgun Team

The Murray State shotgun team will compete at the 2023 National Collegiate Shooting Sport Athletic Association Championships on March 13-19 in Las Vegas.

The 12-person team will compete in trap, sporting clays and skeet.

MORE Foundation's Get Smart Trivia Night

Murray State College was a "valedictorian" sponsor of the MORE Foundation's Get Smart Trivia Night to help raise scholarship money for Carter County graduates.

Murray State faculty Wes Reddish, Kirk and Angela Rodden, Richard and Kathy Bowen, and MSC President Emeritus Joy McDaniel-Aldridge and her husband Doug, represented Murray State. They enjoyed good food and competing against others to see who knew the most trivia.
