Johnston County 4th of July Parade

The Murray State College Bass Fishing Team's new boat served as this year's parade float.


Students handed out candy to kids along the parade route.

Murray State College Rodeo Team Students

Murray State's rodeo students are on the road this summer competing in various rodeos.

Ky Parrish won the California Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association bull riding in Willits, CA.

Blake Carter has been roping hot this summer, winning the 19U calf roping in Glen Rose, TX, and the Durango Boots calf roping in Decatur, TX.


He also placed 3rd at the Roy Cooper calf roping in Decatur, TX.

Langford Picked by Astros in MLB Draft

For the first time in 38 years, Murray State College can claim a Major League Baseball draft selection as sophomore Colby Langford was chosen by the Houston Astros in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Crawford named Assistant Coach of the Year

For the second year in a row, Murray State Softball Pitching Coach Charli Crawford was selected as the NJCAA Division II Easton/NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year.


This award salutes the efforts of coaches from the various NFCA membership categories for their tireless dedication to the sport of softball and to the continued education, growth and development of young women, both on and off the playing field.

The winners were nominated by NFCA member coaches and selected by a panel of their peers on the NFCA Awards Committee.


All division winners will be recognized on Dec. 9 at the NFCA Convention Awards Brunch.

Ardmore Campus Hosts STEM Camp

The Murray State College science faculty held a STEM Camp for youth at the Ardmore campus this week. Students participated in hands-on activities and learned about careers in STEM fields.

Tishomingo Campus Hosts Youth Emergency Preparedness Camp

The Oklahoma Youth Preparedness Council held the Oklahoma Youth Preparedness Camp on the Tishomingo campus this week.

The camp is geared toward students who want to help their school and family become more prepared for emergency situations.

Students learned about community action planning and gained basic emergency response skills. At the end of the camp, all participants, including adult chaperones, received a 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team certificate. 

Local Partnerships

Murray State College in Ardmore hosted Valero and AirEvac for interview sessions this week.


The companies conducted more than 50 interviews and hired multiple individuals from the area.

Murray State College recently partnered to support the Ardmore Corporate Fitness Challenge.


The goal of this event is to bring the Ardmore area businesses and their employees together for a week of athletic competition, team-building and improved physical fitness.

Murray State College has partnered to aid the Southern Oklahoma Track Club. They sent approximately 30 qualified participants to the USATF Regionals in Jonesboro, AR on July 6.


The club had 21 athletes qualify for nationals in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks.
