Smithsonian - Allie

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS: The Costume Society of America invites papers for an upcoming conference on "Interpreting History through Costume," to be held March 17-18 in Santa Clarita, CA.  Submit proposals by October 15.

 

CONFERENCES: If you're not able to attend the upcoming Association for State & Local History conference in Richmond, VA, consider taking part in the online component!  Participate in live presentations of six sessions taking place from September 14-16. Listen, ask questions, and make comments from your desktop, conference room, or even your kitchen table.

 

The Art Museum Partnership will hold its 2011 Director's Forum October 23 to 25 in New York City.  Speakers will delve into a variety of timely subjects for the recession-weary art museum director. Sessions and events will take place at institutions throughout Manhattan, including The Morgan Library & Museum, El Museo del Barrio, Christies, and more

 

EVENTS: Join the Museum Council of Philadelphia & the Delaware Valley for a tour of the Union League (including a behind-the-scenes look at the new Heritage Center) on September 26 in Philadelphia, PA!  Happy hour to follow.

 

WORKSHOPS: Reminder - The Delaware Division of Libraries and the Institute of Museum & Library Services are offering a new series of free, two-part Connecting to Collections workshops.  These will focus on "Disaster Planning, Prevention & Response."  The events will be held in Georgetown, DE (September 26 and November 14), Dover, DE (September 27 and November 15), and New Castle, DE (September 28 and November 16).
