Greetings!

I just finished reading all 110 student inspirations and artist statements for Best of the Best. You are going to be very impressed with the talent of today's high school students. They have created art that speaks to their passion and their joy or angst. We have a reception for them (and you) on April 3, which coincides with First Friday.

If you have been in Gallery One, you know that it is the go to place for cards. Each month we sell a bushel of cards - many are one of a kind. We also have new artists - so definitely make Gallery One a go to place for shopping for art.

Hope to see you all soon. Also, watch for an insert in the Courier later this month. Haines & Friends awarded us money to pay for it. So many people still don't know about the museum, we thought this might help. You could help too. Bring a friend.

A few years ago we discovered Exhibitions on Screen and have been showing their movies ever since. They NEVER disappoint. The films capture the life and art of an artist and they highlight exhibits in museums - usually in Europe.

We charge $10 for each film and we supply chocolate, snack, and beverages. AND we have more cushions for the chairs. Come and enjoy!

Every once in a while, changes must be made. This year we have decided that we cannot have Art in the Garden. We had trouble gathering enough gardens and the timing just didn't work. SO, since next year would have been our 30th Anniversary of sponsoring this event, we decided to cancel this year and make next year spectacular. Save the date: June 5 & 6, 2027

This month, every square inch of exhibit space is being used. The library has an interactive exhibit featuring a commemoration of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The exhibit is a combined effort of BASE and the Oregon Remembrance Project. The BASE youth painted three bus seats and the rest of the exhibit contains explanations and they invite people to share their dream.

Betty LaDuke had a standing room only group for her artist talk.

Georgia Churchill and musicians joined poetry night in March. Georgia told a story and the musicians (dressed in true Irish garb) played lively songs.

Fifth grade field trips are in full swing for the spring term. The group seen here is using the pointillism technique to color a chameleon. They also learn how to create the color brown!

The museum was the venue for a candlelit (battery operated) concert to raise money for the Sublime, Divine Sanctuary. Antonio Melendez was the performer. The event was complete with a silent auction.

Cycle Oregon will be here before you know it. They need lots and lots of volunteers to make the event wonderful. Sign up and help!

Say Cheese is a fundraiser for the Food Bank. Lots of restaurants in the area are participating. They tabled outside the museum on First Friday in March.

YVONNE & PHILLIP FAULKNER

Yvonne Faulklner comes from an art family, and her Grandmother was a watercolor artist and her Father an oil painter and set designer for the movie studios in Hollywood. Faulkner is a watercolor colorist with sales ranging from Carmel, Los Gatos, and Del Norte Art Association. She calls Grants Pass her home and has exhibited in Gallery One sInce the beginning with Medora Nankervis and Sonny Van Kempen, the founders of the gallery. She has painted book covers for Art Bernstein’s books “76 Day Hikes In The Rogue Valley”, and “California Best Day Hikes. On display are her vivid paintings of scenery, many being of local places, and her very popular art of cats.
