Greetings!
We had our very first "live" class in the museum on Saturday. It was so good to see people - even if we weren't "up close and personal." We hope to do more, but in the meantime we are holding some classes at Reinhart Park.
We heard some really sad news from the American Alliance of Museums:
The American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the only organization representing the entire scope of the museum community, warned that one out of every three museums may shutter forever as funding sources and financial reserves run dry. Without near-term assistance from governments and private donors, hundreds of directors reported their museums may not survive the financial crisis brought on by the pandemic.
We feel very fortunate that our museum is relatively stable. We have a small footprint, only two paid staff, and fairly low overhead. What is really important though, is you. We have strong supporters and appreciate every one of you for your help in keeping the museum alive and vibrant even during these trying times. We will open sometime in the future when we know it is safe.
In the meantime - stay well. We miss you all!

A message from Board President Pam Geye |

August is here and my tomatoes are finally starting to ripen. I hope everyone is staying healthy.
Last month I told you about our newly elected officers, this month I’d like to tell you about the rest of the important people on the Board.
Cal Kenney has been a board director for quite a long time. He is the creative mind and director of the 2nd Friday Poetry Sharing, which has been going for over 10 years. We appreciate that Cal continues to give his time and energy to the board.
Nancy Yonally-Coleman, has also served the on the board for a long time. She is our past-president and I look to her to help give me advice and guidance on many topics. She is very involved in the community and we are happy that she still finds time to help out the Museum.
Laura Acosta has been on the board for a couple of years and she is the Chairman of the Membership Committee. She is always a delight to have around and has great ideas on how to make the museum a better place for our community. We appreciate her time and energy.
Kate Bortells is one of our newer board members and we are so excited that she choose to join the board. She is the chairman for the Art in the Garden Committee and brings us such great energy and enthusiasm. She is a complete delight to be around and we look forward to all the great ideas she will bring to the Board.
All of these people are so valuable to the museum. They give of their time to help make sure the Museum stays a great place for our community to gather and enjoy all sorts of arts.
We are currently working on new fundraising ideas, as most of our events had to be cancelled this spring. If you have any ideas we’d love to hear about them. Also if you or any one you know might add value to our board or Museum, please let us know.

For you, it is worth it, and you will carry that ripple a tiny bit farther out.

The museum does not receive government funding (other than grants from the Josephine County Cultural Coalition). So keeping the doors open depends on grants, donations, memberships, sponsorships, and rent from the street level businesses (Shoefly and Gallery One). You can do one time donations and you can also do monthly donations. It's easy - and we appreciate you very much!
On additional side benefit - the foundations who offer grants are very pleased to see community involvement. Your donations show your support!
