Today is the first day of the second month of the new year. Tomorrow will be Ground Hog's Day. Always interesting to see if he is correct in his prediction.

What I can definitely predict is that when you come to the museum, you will be happy. We have so much to offer. The new exhibit has smile appeal. Everyone is liking it a lot.

We have a great year ahead. Don't miss anything.

In the main galleries we will have Greg Navratil from Oregon. Greg's title is Minutiae en Masse. He uses applicators to paint with instead of brushes. The end result is almost a pointillism effect. The overall visual effect is stunning. The exhibit opens February 25.

The community gallery will feature Don Woodard from Colorado. Don creates 3-D paintings and mixed media art. This exhibit opens February 25.

These films are produced by Exhibitions on Screen. They are truly stunning. The recent Van Gogh film was a sell out - so get your tickets early. The films are on Sunday afternoons and tickets are $10 each. We have limited capacity. You can purchase tickets by CLICKING HERE!

February Second Friday Poetry Sharing is offering something very special because it’s Valentines Day.

We have invited Georgia Churchill, who is a professional storyteller to tell some stories. For 43 year she has been telling oral tradition tales from many cultures to people from ages 3 to 101. Studying mime, improv, various dramatic philosophies/techniques, and voice has taught her to bring the stories to life.

She will be accompanied by two violinists, Natalie and Chloe. In addition, we will have normal poetry sharing with the optional theme: Love Poems.

The event is free – doors open at 6:30pm. (There will be chocolate!)

Mounting an exhibit can be daunting. This group started before we remembered the laser level. You can also see the labels and other elements that were sent to us by the International Fiber Collaborative.

Thanks to Diamond Home Improvements wonderful donation of a laser level, we were able to quickly determine where the panels for the exhibit should go.

Our current exhibit about the Oregon Caves and creatures that live there includes over 500 students from all over the United States. The other day, Lise Van Brunt came to visit and noticed that one of the schools is in Portland. She commented that her granddaughter attended the French Immersion school there. And guess what, we found the panel that her granddaughter, Pepper helped create.

The adult workshops have started. This one was How To Paint Like Van Gogh. We had a great group and the results were stunning. JoAnn Stevens will be teaching many more Paint Like workshops this year.

Normally, this time of year, we have a major fund raiser. This year we decided to have an art sale of things that have been donated and gathered for the last few years. We have some great art at great prices. Come and see for yourself. You'll go home with a treasure and you will have helped support the museum.
