March has definitely come in like a lion. The weather is interesting today. I left my house in a flurry of sleet but by the time I reached G Street, the sun had peeked out and the sky was blue.

In the meantime, the daffodils and flowering trees are assuming it's time to bloom.

I hope you can all come and visit this exhibit. Bring your friends too!

This is an incredible and highly unusual exhibit. It is actually an online auction and you can purchase any of the art. The proceeds of the auction will benefit people in the future who wish to study art. The story of how this all happened can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE.

Here we see Mark Simonds at work installing the scholarship fund exhibit. Mark has been very involved with curating and installing exhibits.

We started off February with a Superbowl party. Great food and great fun for all.

Rogue Gateway Rotary had their second annual event at the museum.

The big challenge with our fifth grade field trips is filling the art bags. We give each student a bag full of art supplies so they can create on their own. Here is Cindy Van Dine opening all of the cartons of supplies. We purchased 600 of everything.

We invited 30 people to form an assembly line in order to fill the bags with the supplies. We had a double line and the bags were passed down the line and each person placed an item in the bag.

We included runners to take the bags to where they are stored.

Here are the "packers" in action. It took them 21 minutes to pack 600 bags. They set a record this year.

It's amazing how many hands can make quick work of things.

Once packed, the runners took the bags to the executive director's office where shelves had been built to house them. All 600 fit on the shelves.

The field trips have begun. This is an example of one of the groups from Madrona Elementary School. In this photo they are doing their color theory project.

We teach the students about pointillism and explain that by putting dots close together they can mix colors. They are each given markers and the outline of a chameleon to color.

We give each student a color wheel and on the back are the organizations that make this possible. Much appreciation for all.

Brand new banners advertising our exhibits and concerts were installed in front of the building by Bolt Grafix. Shout out to a great job!

We appreciate all of the people we work with in our community.

Near the end of the month we were honored to host a meet and greet for AllCare Health's new CEO, Max Janasik.

Max is the new CEO.

Everyone had a wonderful time and agreed that the museum is a "classy" venue for a party.

Most Mondays, from 1pm - 3pm, people gather at the museum to sketch a live model. Doug Iverson is the leader of this activity. He sends an email out every Sunday to let you know what is happening the next day.

John Frohnmayer is a retired attorney from the U.S. state of Oregon. He was the fifth chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, a program of the United States government. He was appointed by President George H. W. Bush in 1989, and served until 1992.

John will be talking about his newest book dealing with the adventures of Lara Cole.

Trouble knows how to find Lara.

In the sequel to Blood and Faith, museum curator Lara Cole is sent to Oregon to review the progress of a developing art museum and cultural center. It should be routine, but instead she is chased, shot at, and forced to seek the help of FBI agent George Graham, with whom she survived a shoot-out in Russia during a previous assignment.

Messing about in the art world proves to be risky business that tests Lara’s grit and determination, and maybe, just maybe, rekindles romance.
