People tell us how much they enjoy the programs and events we offer at the museum. If you haven't participated in some of them recently - stay tuned for what is in store next year. We have one more concert and one more workshop in 2024. Following that is the membership exhibit which occupies most of the nooks and crannies in the museum. We are looking forward to a grand amount of artists entering their wonderful creations.

Enjoy the changing of the seasons. The colors are glorious and the rain is so appreciated. Hope to see you in the next couple of months!

Chris Baron is our last concert for the year. He is bringing two other string players with him - a bass player and a cellist, so this will be a stunning concert.

This workshop is all about having fun with traditional Dia de los Muertos ornaments and things. We have a huge variety of wooden items to paint and decorate. AND, JoAnn Stevens will show you how to paint a sugar skull on a

4" x 4" chunky canvas. When you are finished, we will give you a small easel for displaying your treasure. Let us know you are coming by signing up HERE!

The workshop is totally free and you get to take home everything you create.

There were so many great things happening at the museum in October. I don't have pictures of all of the events - but here's what is missing:

The City and Art Along the Rogue asked if we could host the artist's reception. We had about 45 people here - not only artists, but some of the Art Along the Rogue sponsors. It was a fun event! Grocery Outlet gave us a gift card for wine purchases, Weekend Beer donated some beer growlers, and the city provided a caterer - Blaze-n-Monkeys.

That led to First Friday and our featured artist, Alx Fox was here to greet people and answer questions.

Second Friday Poetry was well attended and we are looking forward to larger audiences in the future.

Martin Majkut and Vijay (piano soloist for the upcoming symphony weekend) were here for "Coffee with Martin" event. This is an invitation only event that the Symphony sponsors for season ticket holders.

Clayfolk was here the following Sunday for their annual meeting and booth pick for their upcoming show and sale.

Then we had three films - The Southern Oregon Living and Dying Alliance sponsored a wonderful movie about climate change called a Magnitude of All Things, and we had our quarterly art film. This one was about Edvard Munch. And finally, Deanna Morse hosted an International Animation Film Festival event and we showed many animations of her own creation.

Matisse was the artist we featured in a Paint Like a Famous Artist workshop.

JoAnn Stevens talked about the artist's life and helped everyone have fabulous outcomes!

Corbin Brashear taught a needlefelting workshop and everyone made pumpkins, bees, and slugs. Lots of laughing!

Alx Fox taught a workshop about the joys of acrylic paint. She went into details about everything from brushes to techniques.

Karen O'Brien taught a workshop about making an art journal with a recycled book.

Recently I "Googled" my name. It's interesting what you find! This video popped up and I had to share it. It is a video created by Randy Johnson of the Black, White, & the Blues fund raiser in 2012. The venue was the Toyota dealership which was owned by the Wheelers. They would let us use their showroom for our party each year. (for free) Randy has since moved to Florida but stays in contact now and then. In the video you will see many familiar faces - some of whom are no longer with us. It was the 25th Anniversary of Black, White, & the Blues. The music was The Duffy Bishop Band. The caterer was Rob from the Golf Club. The year 2020 was the last time we offered BWB. Perhaps we'll bring it back someday. It was fun. It is a bitter sweet few minutes of remembrance.

Most Mondays, people gather at the museum to sketch a live model. Doug Iverson is the leader of this activity. If you are interested in learning more - please email office@gpmuseum.com with Life Drawing in the subject line and we will put you on Doug's email list. He sends an email out every Sunday to let you know what is happening the next day.
