Greetings!

Well, well, well - it's November. How can November come right behind May? It's just all so fast. And don't forget to turn your clocks back for daylight savings time. This time you have to "fall back."

What does November mean for the museum? Answer: The Membership Exhibit. This is the time of year when all member artists show their art and we get to revel in the amount of creativity in our community. It's always such a treat. Our extra walls will be up so come one come all. Strut your stuff.

We have lots of great treats planned for next year. Our exhibits include The Best of the Best, Art About Agriculture, and A SAQA exhibit called "Stitch Punk." And more. Those are just the highlights.

Your challenge for the end of the year - bring in a friend who has never been to the museum before. It's astonishing how many people have never been here. I don't know why - but it's true.

Singularity is a Forest

Alvaro lives in Mexico City. The Oregon consulate suggested he contact various museums in order to exhibit his photography. As it happens, the timing was perfect to add his images to our current exhibit. In addition to images, he has written a poem for each of the 15 trees in English and Spanish.

A few words about volunteering at the museum. As you can see in the some of the images, we have a plethora of people helping us do things. For example, Dr. David Abdun-Nur helps with exhibit installation because his wife is part of our exhibition department. Will Ausland volunteers as part of a school commitment. He needs volunteer hours and likes art. We also have lots of different people who are greeters every afternoon. Think of spending four hours meeting new people and telling the stories about the exhibit and the museum. When not busy greeting, a volunteer can read, or sew, or do art. It's a great way to spend peaceful time! Sign up and find out for your self.

2026 Open Call for Art

Submission Deadline: January 11, 2026 at 11:59pm

Art About Agriculture Touring Exhibition 2026: Field Report invites submissions of fine art and craft that explores visual storytelling inspired by food, fiber and natural resources. Whether rooted in personal experience, research, legacy, mythology or a fleeting moment, Pacific Northwest artists are encouraged to share their agricultural narratives. The 2026 tour is currently scheduled to visit Giustina Gallery at Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR/OSU), Josephy Center for Arts and Culture (Joseph, OR), Grants Pass Museum of Art (Grants Pass, OR), and the Betty Feves Memorial Gallery at Blue Mountain Community College (Pendleton, OR).

Art About Agriculture’s annual Open Call is a juried opportunity with no submission fees, open to Pacific Northwest artists and craftspersons, as well as students from OSU, Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, and Blue Mountain Community College. Works selected for the tour are eligible for purchase awards and acquisition into the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences’ Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection.

As you can see, we will be hosting this exhibit in 2026. If you want to be part of the exhibit - you need to apply - it's a juried exhibition. Wouldn't it be fun if a few of our museum member artists were part of this traveling exhibit.

I don't have many pictures from this month. Here is one from Halloween. Tina and Anita had a great time handing out candy. Tina said we had 900 kiddos this year. That's a lot of chocolate.
