ACTIVE LISTENING

Please note, as the choir sings, this is a time to:

  • BE STILL (OR – tap a foot, move to the beat, even CLAP – if it’s a lively one!)
  • Listen to your breathing as you listen and focus to the sounds washing over you
  • Be prepared for God, the Holy Spirit to show up - speak to your heart, your mind, your spirit thru the music

SERVICE

Opening: 423 Immortal, invisible, God only wise

Gospel: 656 Blest are the pure in heart

Hymn of Dedication: 178 Alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord

Offertory:

O Lord that seest  C. Wood (1866-1926)

O Lord! that seest, from yon starry height, centred in one the future and the past, fashioned in thine own image, see how fast the world obscures in me what once was bright.

Eternal sun! the warmth which thou hast given to cheer life's flowry April fast decays; yet, in the hoary winter of my days, forever green shall be my trust in heaven.

Celestial King! O, let thy presence pass before my spirit, and an image fair shall meet that look of mercy from on high, as the reflected image in a glass doth meet the look of him who seeks it there, and owes its being to the gazer's eye.

Sanctus: Sung to ‘Land of Rest'

Fraction: S-154 Christ our Passover

Communion Anthem:

Rise up, my love  H. Willan (1880-1968)

Text: Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away; for lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear upon the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come; arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Communion: 653 Dear Lord and Father of mankind

Closing: 557 Rejoice, ye pure in heart!

POSTLUDE

Processional  W. Mathias (1934-1989)

(FYI: oft described as an “audience pleaser”, using terms like “catchy”, and “bustles with cheerful positivity” – I would have to agree - and, fun to play!)
