MUSIC MONDAYS

Dear friend

Dranoff’s past is rooted in the discovery of talent and on the foundation high-level music, commissioning of new repertoire, and performance. Moving into the future, we see new music artistic collaborations and new audience engagement especially with regard to the youth music and arts integration program, Piano Slam.

The themes of several  previous seasons have been extensions of the  chosen themes for  Piano Slam. This year it is “The Full Spectrum of Light” - exploring the prominent heritage of music and people that constitute our hometown -   LGBTQ,  Cuban and black African.
One of the LGBTQ poets presenting her work at the Miami Book Fair, Shara McCallum, is part of the Piano Slam poetry performance.

On Saturday, November 13th, we start the 2021/2022 Season at the iconic Betsy Hotel with a live celebration of the great LGBTQ composers of past and present, performed by  Duo Spektra. Your guide through the program is the inimitable Frank Cooper.

What would the world be like without Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Leonard Bernstein?? Today's music choice is an archive recording of one of the facets of that Full Spectrum, a two piano version of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite .

Please remember to contribute to Dranoff and Piano Slam on Give Miami Day.  Your gift will  support a future of musicians, the performance marketplace and the engagement of teenagers in their communities through their love of music.

Warmly,
