Dear Friend -
Today, Music Mondays presents Bobby Mitchell and Ashley Hribar in a performance of original music for two pianos based on live improvisations for the classic silent film
Metropolis
by the Israeli pianist and composer Matan Borat.
The main mission of the Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation has been to discover and present the best duo piano artists and to connect them with new audiences. Some of these artists have been wildly adventurous in performance styles and repertoires, both traditional classical and contemporary.
Lucky Dranoff! We get to move around the world meeting new arts partners in exciting collaborations. This is how we met fearless and wonderful Bobby Mitchell whom we first engaged along with Maarten Van Veen for a very special contemporary visual arts and music event for ART BASEL. Bobby has introduced us to many exciting new works as well as to his recent piano partner, Australian artist Ashley Hribar. They have opened many ears and hearts, both young and old, with their originality and virtuosity, and have brought new levels of creativity to Dranoff‘s PIANOSLAM and brand new scores for our silent film music projects with the Coral Gables Art Cinema.
The best thing about working and presenting these artists in concert is they have become family with deep personal relationships to Dranoff members and patrons. It is truly a successful initiative when your music business is also your social and friendship circle!
During this pandemic we feel cut off from personal connections. We can’t forget that human beings share culture; we are hardwired to seek out music and art to experience our emotions and express empathy and even love. We all miss live performance, but we hope that Music Mondays and our new program, A Breath of Music, help you continue to experience the comfort of shared identity.
Warmly,
Gabriele Fiorentino
