Dear friend
June is PRIDE month and Dranoff2 is celebrating a great LGBTQ composers from Chopin to Tchaikovsky to Dranoff‘s commissioned composer, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett.
We have just finished presenting an ambitious first full season after the horrors of the last two years. Phoenix rising, so to speak. We presented classical classics, jazz, film music and, of course, Piano Slam, all under the theme of The Full Spectrum of Light.
We began our season as with a concert at the Betsy Hotel in Miami Beach as part of the LGBTQ composer series. The acclaimed musicologist Frank Cooper introduced the role of some of music greatest composers who were gay.
Today, please enjoy some short clips of the multi-award winning British composer Sir Richard Rodney Bennett in celebration of Pride Month with a few introductory comments by the Greek Duo Antithesis. They met in Miami in 2007 during a Dranoff event and became great colleagues and friends.
The symbol of the rainbow, the visualization of light’s full spectrum, reflect the full breadth of our humanity, and of our hope.
May you have a bright and joyful week.
Warmly,
Gabriele Fiorentino
