MUSIC MONDAYS

Dear friend

This week we begin the month of December, and with that, we enter into the season of light. Please have a look at Dranoff’s season The Full Spectrum of Light and let us plan to come together to enjoy music that will help us illuminate our lives.

The winter solstice occurs when either of Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. in the Northern hemisphere, December brings the longest night. This is the time we humans turn to festivals and celebrations of light.

Hanukkah began yesterday and will be observed for eight days. Swedes, Norwegians and Finns celebrate St. Lucia Day in mid-December. The Christmas  tree, a 17th century invention built upon pagan roots of bringing in greens during winter, celebrates light and life right around the time of the winter solstice. Those are just a few expressions of our need for light.

Have a wonderful week!

Warmly,
