Dear Gabriele -
There are many musical traditions that although they have widely different origins, they cannot really be separated. Widening the Lens of Great Art, Dranoff2 expands these traditional views of the “ Art of Two”.
Our upcoming West African Beats concert honors the rhythms brought on slave ships from west Africa. These beats are inseparably joined within the contemporary music, rhythms, instruments, song, and dance movements we will bring to the Miami Beach Band Shell on February 11. Steel pan virtuoso Leon Foster Thomas will be joined by pianists Tal Cohen and Devin Shaw and the choreographer and fellow Trinidadian Peter London, making great art in Miami.
