MUSIC MONDAYS

Dear friend

We just sprung forward in our clocks, and Nature is springing out wherever the weather  allows. Down here in Florida, the winds of March are preparing us for the  season of the rains.

And there is another season – that of Poetry.
We just received the submission of thousands of poems from the middle and high school students who chose to participate in Piano Slam 2022.  This year’s theme: My Music. My Humanness. My Home.  I personally cannot wait to begin reading them and more so, to meet the Finalists who, unlike last year, are going to be live on stage of the Arsht Center.
Will you help us by making a contribution to our upcoming Spring Fundraiser?  There are many opportunities to fund specific aspects of Dranoff2’s arts integration initiative. Please reach out to me to find out what they are.

And now, one of the most beloved, iconic pieces of music celebrating the new beginnings of this time of year.  Vivaldi’s Spring, in a lovely version by Anderson & Roe.

Have a good week.

Warmly,

Like Rain it sounded till it curved

Like Rain it sounded till it curved
And then I knew 'twas Wind —
It walked as wet as any Wave
But swept as dry as sand —
When it had pushed itself away
To some remotest Plain
A coming as of Hosts was heard
That was indeed the Rain —
It filled the Wells, it pleased the Pools
It warbled in the Road —
It pulled the spigot from the Hills
And let the Floods abroad —
It loosened acres, lifted seas
The sites of Centres stirred
Then like Elijah rode away
Upon  a Wheel of Cloud.
