Hello Friends, and welcome to my news!
The end of 2020 and the beginning of 2023 found me enjoying new and inspiring collaborations, watching the racing technologies further disrupt our narratives and expectations, and writing a great deal of music as a result! As we head toward the unknown and roll the windows down some more, I hope that your various destinations will include stops to see these stellar artists and the timely productions they have created.
World Premiere I
I am hugely looking forward to performing my piece Unraveling the Linear with the excellent Sylvan Winds in the Plugged-In concert at the Marc A. Scorca Hall at The National Opera Center on Sunday February 19! It promises to be a terrific concert featuring some of my favorite composers - G. Ligeti, Lawson&Merrill, K. Azmeh, A. Loggins-Hull, P. Bimstein, C. Folio and H. Cowell - in a rare blend of electro-acoustics. My mini arsenal of choice will be Arturia’s MicroFreak synthesizer with processing boxes plugged into a special speaker system. Unraveling the Linear explores our relationship with time, moment to moment perception. But it may be an illusion, a result of complex interactions in timeless space.

I’ll be interviewed live before the performance as part of Composers Interviewing Composers segments for the 2023 Composers Now Festival.

Unraveling the Linear was commissioned by Sylvan Winds with funding from the Individual Artist Program, made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) with support by the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
World Premiere II
I am excited about another world premiere this coming Sunday! I will be performing my electronic piece Lucid Iterations 1 for bass guitar and electronic sound at the American Festival of Microtonal Music (AFMM)
The piece explores three tunings, each responding to a stage in the process of waking. The last is tuning of my own design depicting a fully awake, yet altered state. The concert will be streamed live to YouTube on the Microtonal University (MU) channel. Come to MicrotonalVision and experience some mind-expanding works by Amelia Huff, Michael Vick, Witold Maciak, Jair-Rohm Parker Wells and Stephen James Taylor!

Tattoo at the Carolyn Dorfman Dance 40th Anniversary Gala
I'm thrilled to have been part of the Carolyn Dorfman Dance community for 10 years as composer and producer. This year I'll be honored to see them perform Tattoo set to my music at the CDD 40th Anniversary Performance/Gala. Tattoo is part of Interior Designs, one of my favorite dance collaborations to date. The performance Dance on Exhibit will be an evening of dance on display in a gallery setting followed by performances of some of the company's most iconic works on stage.

Saturday, April 13&15, 7:00 PM

World Premiere III
In May 2023 (date and time TBA), I'll happily partake in Composers Concordance 2022-’23 season. My piece Lucid Iterations 2 will receive its world premiere at the concert entitled Name Bands & Nicknames. This year's theme of the Annual CompCord Festival - their 11th! - is ‘What’s In a Name'. It nicely coincides with the fact that I'll be performing with four Js!

Jai Jeffryes - piano, Jay Rodrigues - sax/flute, Jay Rozen - tuba,
Jay Elfenbein - bass/viola da gamba, Svjetlana Bukvich - synthesizer

Composers: Aaron Alter, Lynn Bechtold, Peri Mauer, Gene Pritsker, Dennis Brandner, Dan Cooper, Jay Elfenbein, Gilbert Galindo, Christian Kuhen, Max Pollak, Jay Rodriguez, Jay Rozen and David See
As always, thank you for reading, and I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Yours,

Svjetlana
