Shape the Future of Live Entertainment in Greater St. Joseph

Since 1979, the Performing Arts Association of Saint Joseph (816Live!) has served as a cultural anchor for our community. From bringing world-class music, theatre, and dance to the historic Missouri Theater to engaging local audiences of all ages, our mission remains clear: to provide accessible, exceptional live performances to serve the entire region.

We are seeking passionate, forward-thinking community leaders to join our Board of Directors.

Why Serve?

  • Direct Cultural Impact: Help curate and steward high-quality artistic programming that enriches the quality of life across St. Joseph and the surrounding region.
  • Historic Preservation & Growth: Support the historic Missouri Theater in its 100th year and assist in the growth of Performing Arts Association / 816Live! in its successful future!
  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with dedicated local business, civic, and creative leaders to guide the long-term vision, financial sustainability, and growth of our organization.
  • Share your ideas on one of our committees.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome individuals from diverse professional backgrounds - including finance, marketing, law, education, fundraising, and community outreach - who share a deep commitment to the performing arts.

What is the time commitment?

The PAA Board meets once a month, and meetings normally last about an hour. Board committees meet as needed, with most committees meeting at least five times a year.

Board members are also encouraged to volunteer at many of our events, often serving as ushers and helping make our patrons feel welcome. From time to time, there may also be an event, project, or special activity where we need additional help.

Overall, we are looking for people who can make a consistent commitment to the organization, participate when they can, and be willing to pitch in when needed. It is not a full-time commitment, but it does require more than simply attending a monthly meeting.

Ready to lead behind the scenes? Join us in keeping live performance vibrant in St. Joseph. Apply today to become a candidate for our Board of Directors.
