Historical Tidbit: Requirements for Raynham's Secession from Taunton

Town leaders from the first families of Raynham petitioned the Massachusetts General Court three times before they were allowed to become independent from Taunton.

The Court set the following requirements for Raynham's secession from Taunton: "That the inhabitants of said town do, within the space of three years from the publication of this act, procure and settle a learned and orthodox minister of good conversation and make provisions for his comfortable and honorable support and likewise provide a schoolmaster to instruct their children to read and write."

The Importance of Water Safety in the Summer
Water Safety: During the summer months, many families will spend a lot of time on the water. We live in an area that is close to a wide variety of water options including rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, and the ocean, not to mention backyard and community pools. Whenever you are boating, kayaking, canoeing or using stand-up paddle boards, always remember to use approved personal floatation devices (PFD). For information on how to choose an appropriate PFD by the U.S. Coast Guard, visit: How to Choose a Life Jacket. Also, be sure to supervise children when they are in or near the water. Drowning does not always look like the splashing and noises that you see in movies and on television. To learn more, check out this article from Slate: Rescuing Drowning Children: How to Know When Someone is in Trouble in the Water

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ~ Plato

"You have to, take a deep breath. and allow the music to flow through you. Revel in it, allow yourself to awe. When you play allow the music to break your heart with its beauty.” ~ Kelly White

"This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” ~ Leonard Bernstein
Let us make music, dear readers and friends. Let us not talk of difficult things, but experience the joy of a unified rhythm, a melody for all to enjoy. This moment, we just need to absorb and feel that. Let now be that moment, so that you feel good and when challenge comes to you, ( and it will) that you smile and say " Welcome, would you like to hear my song? "
