Musician Andrew Cole Brings Celebrity-Filled Anti-Bullying Campaign to Sunset Marquis Live on August 23rd

On August 23 rd , Live @ Sunset Marquis is teaming up with musician Andrew Cole to support his anti-bullying #IAmNoJoke campaign and documentary. Cole will perform with singer Rachel Lorin and the event will be supported by a slew of noteworthy sponsors.

The #IAMNOJOKE project was born out of Cole's desire to write a song for the victims of bullying. As someone who suffered childhood bullying himself, he felt it would be empowering for others to know they weren't alone. "But the thing is that I'm nobody, so I have to build an army," he explains in the documentary. Using creative efforts and sheer dogged determination, Cole was able to recruit Jeff Goldblum, Steve Vai, Meat Loaf, Chad Smith, Julian Lennon, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Sir Patrick Stewart, Cedric the Entertainer, and dozens more icons to be a part of the project. #IAMNOJOKE is backed by the Creative Visions foundation.

It's more than fitting that the effort to raise money and awareness for this project should take place at the Sunset Marquis. For over fifty years, Sunset Marquis has served as a home-away-from-home for incredible musicians like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Blondie, Black Sabbath, The Killers, Slash, Chris Cornell, Green Day, Aerosmith, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Kings of Leon and many more.

The music industry has played a significant role in securing this serene garden oasis and its iconic status. To pay homage to those roots, Sunset Marquis continues its tradition this summer with an acoustic music showcase, Live @ Sunset Marquis. Each year, the venue introduces its guests to incredible new talent and gives back to the entertainment community that has supported them throughout the years. Previous artists include: Grammy Award winner Gary Clark, Jr., Run River North, ZZ Ward, LEMMO, Ana Cristina, Alex & Sierra (X-Factor Winners), Madeline Fuhrman, Hamish Anderson, Zander Vera, The Brevet, The Bones of J.R. Jones, and Lena Fayre, to name a few.

The Say No To Bullying #IAMNOJOKE event will be sponsored by Cult of Individuality, PRS Guitars, SHAGBAGG, Mephisto Shoes, and Morrison Hotel Gallery.

Through studying fashion her entire life, it was designer Nicola Angelos's intention to create a brand that others could react, adapt to, and have fun with. SHAGBAGG began as a dream: while attending design school in 2010, Nicola envisioned a "shaggy" bag, only to discover her dream subconsciously offered that "out of the box" concept she was looking for. Nicola always had an enthusiasm for how peace in contrast to revolution was expressed through fashion during the late 1960s, and this relates to today in that we are also a generation desperate to break out of society's self-imposed constructs. This is what sparked the idea of pairing SHAGBAGG's traditional silhouettes with nonconventional, retro-inspired SHAG.

Since its inception over 5 years ago, SHAGBAGG has been adopted by fashion-conscious, free-spirited individuals worldwide from our home base of L.A.
