Chilean Nectarines

Chile is the main nectarine supplier from the Southern Hemisphere, exporting nectarines from December through March. With an exceptional, sweet flavor, Chilean nectarines are available in numerous varieties from Bright Pearl to August Red.

One large nectarine has less than 70 calories, with 14% of the daily recommended value of vitamin C in a large piece of fruit. In addition, 9% of the DV of potassium is provided by one large nectarine.

Peaches are a fuzzy fruit, with one large seed, they’re a member of the stone fruit family. A peach is either freestone or clingstone, depending on whether the flesh sticks to the inner seed or easily comes apart.

Chilean peaches are available from November through March. They have a delicate aroma and a juicy, yellowish pulp. Chilean peaches make a refreshing addition to smoothies and salads, and pair nicely with poultry and seafood dishes.

ORGANIC AVOCADOS

There are several benefits associated with eating organic avocados:

1. Reduced pesticide exposure: Organic avocados are grown without synthetic pesticides, reducing the potential exposure to chemical residues. This is particularly important as avocados have a porous skin that is often consumed.

2. Nutritional value: Organic farming practices prioritize soil health and natural fertilizers, which can lead to avocados with higher levels of beneficial nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats, compared to conventionally grown avocados.

3. Environmental sustainability: Organic farming methods promote sustainable practices like soil conservation, water conservation, and biodiversity preservation. By choosing organic avocados, you support farming systems that prioritize the health of the environment and ecosystems.

4. No genetically modified organisms (GMOs): Organic avocados are not genetically modified. If you prefer to avoid genetically engineered foods, opting for organic avocados ensures you're consuming a non-GMO product.

5. Enhanced taste and quality: Many people find that organic avocados have a richer, creamier taste and smoother texture compared to conventionally grown avocados. The focus on natural farming practices and soil health can contribute to improved flavor and overall quality.

Organic Daikon Radish

#5742

Daikon radishes widely range in size, averaging 15 to 60 centimeters in length, and shape, typically having an elongated, cylindrical appearance, but also found in round to oblong forms, depending on the variety. The skin is firm, semi-smooth, and varies from pure white to purple, green and white, to solid red. The root generally feels heavy for its size, a sign that the flesh is plump and not dried out, and is also crisp, aqueous, and dense, containing white, purple, or red hues. Daikon radishes are known for their crunchy, snap-like texture when raw and contain a mild, semi-sweet, and peppery, tangy flavor. Once cooked, the flesh softens to a consistency similar to a potato and develops a neutral flavor. In addition to the roots, Daikon radish leaves are also edible and have a pungent, green, and grassy taste.
