While our regular monthly Events & Exhibits newsletter is currently paused, we’d still like to keep you informed of engaging digital content, remote services, and resources the Library is providing during its closure.

Looking for new books to read while you’re staying inside? The Library’s got you covered. Check out this list of recommended reads from UC San Diego librarians. Travel across the United States, dive deep into the wonderful world of wine, and immerse yourself in a beautiful love story, all from the comfort of your home.

If you miss being at the Library as much as we do, we encourage you to download our Zoom backgrounds to help you feel like you’re at Geisel Library or the Biomedical Library Building. Share your love of the Library with your friends, family, and coworkers.

We’re pleased to announce that our annual Short Tales from the Mothership event is returning, this time in a more modern event format, via Zoom! To participate, submit a short science fiction or fantasy story (250 words or fewer) to spaulson@ucsd.edu by May 8. Participants will be invited to read their works at our virtual event on Zoom on May 19. This virtual event is free and open to the public. Registration details are forthcoming.

We're continuing our monthly "Today I Learned" feature on social media, with April and May taking you on a virtual vacation to Baja California through our Digital Collections. Be sure to follow us on Facebook , Instagram , and Twitter to enjoy gorgeous imagery and cultural content from this region through May. We’ll be switching it up and choosing a new collection to highlight in June—stay tuned!

Although life looks different with social distancing, we want to continue to inspire you to read, write, think and dream. Check out these highlights from The Library Channel on UCTV, featuring some of our most watched interviews, author talks, and more.

Studying and working from home during these times can be very stressful. Remembering to take care of our minds, bodies, and overall well-being is especially important in times of uncertainty. To help you de-stress and relax, we’ll be putting together weekly lists of activities such as easy DIY crafts, printable coloring pages, healthy recipes, and more. Keep watch on our social channels for continued promotion of these activities.
While the Library is currently closed, our librarians and staff are working hard, behind the scenes, to ensure you have access to the materials you need this quarter. Visit our COVID-19 response page for more information.
