“You Cannot Have Public Safety Without the Public.”

ACM Executive Director Terrance Staley shares a story of the “audacity of hope” in his TEDx talk

Congratulations to Terrance for bringing the ACM message to the first TEDx at historically-Black Bowie State University!

Terrance Staley is the Executive Director of the Alliance of Concerned Men, TEDx

When we speak about public safety efforts and its contributors, formerly-incarcerated men and women are often excluded from the conversation. In underserved communities devastated by internal conflict, these returning citizens and their families are commonplace and are statistically most likely to re-offend and or become a victim or perpetrator of violence.

Grassroots strategies use the natural resources in underserved communities stricken by violence, including returning citizens, to serve as change agents and conduits for positive engagement. When properly trained and utilized, their efforts are statistically proven to transform a culture poisoned by violence into a community of peace.

Redemption has the potential to be the most powerful antidote, and even fruit that falls to the ground can become the seed of renewal.
