About Mustang Special Utility District

We got our start as a water supply corporation in 1966. Today, we proudly serve more than 120,000 customers and have been rated a “Superior Water Company” by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. We strive to provide reliable water services and be a community partner second to none.

Because of low water levels at Lake Chapman, Upper Trinity Regional Water District initiated Stage 2 of their Drought Contingency plan a couple weeks ago. As a customer of Upper Trinity, Mustang Special Utility District enacted Stage 2 of our Drought Contingency Plan for our customers south of FM 428 to remain in compliance.

Water conservation is a way of life in North Texas and we ask that every customer do their part no matter the time of year!

Mustang Special Utility District is a proud Defend Your Drains North Texas partner. This year, we are happy to be participating in the Holiday Grease Roundup with the North Central Texas Council on Governments!

The holiday season with fried turkeys, buttery foods, and gravy, can be hard on the diet—and on pipes and sewer systems. When fats, oils, and grease are washed down the drain, they stick to the inside of pipes, hardening and building up until they cause clogs and sewer backups. This can cause sewage to overflow into homes, streets, and local waterways.

In effort to assist our customers in protecting their pipes, and our wastewater system, both Mustang Special Utility District offices currently serve as roundup locations where used cooking oil can be recycled! The addresses to the locations are below.

Water towers, also known as elevated storage tanks, play a critical role in ensuring the consistent delivery of safe and reliable water to all communities. These towering structures are more than just landmarks; they are essential components of a water utility system.

Water towers store treated water at elevated heights, utilizing gravity to maintain water pressure throughout the distribution system. This helps to ensure customers have access to steady water flow, even during peak demand times or power outages. Water towers also act as a buffer during pressure fluctuations, helping to regulate supply and reduce strain on pumps, which contributes to energy efficiency and system longevity.

In emergencies, such as firefighting or water main breaks, water towers provide a ready reserve of water to support critical operations. They also allow maintenance and repairs to be performed on other parts of the system without disrupting water service to customers.

At Mustang Special Utility District, we have 7 water towers (and one on the way!) supporting our mission to provide reliable, sustainable, and efficient water services.

💫 Pam - Data Analyst 💧

For nearly 11 years, Pam has been an integral part of the Mustang family, serving as our Data Analyst in Customer Service. Pam can be credited with creating our incredible motto, Second to None, and she lives it out every day through her work and dedication.

Pam plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of new developments, taking initiative to guarantee that billing and trash services are set up accurately from day one. Her efforts involve seamless coordination with customers, trash companies, and neighboring cities to address concerns and provide accurate billing solutions. Whether she's managing nonstop correspondence or working in the Tyler system, Pam strives to deliver the highest caliber of service because she truly believes in what Second to None represents — and she knows it starts with her.

Beyond her analytical work, Pam is always there for her team. She frequently steps in to support other customer service staff, ensuring no task is left undone. Her commitment to having her team's back reflects her collaborative spirit and dedication to helping others.

Mustang is in the process of drilling a new well and constructing a new 1.5 million gallon elevated storage tank adjacent to our satellite office in Gunter!

Challenge

As the population in Mustang Special Utility District's service area continues to grow, additional means of water production and storage are needed to meet customer demand during peak times.

Solution

Mustang contracted with CB&I Storage Tank to construct this 1.5 million gallon spheroid storage tank and C Miller Drilling to drill the accompanying well, helping us to maintain supply during peak demand.

Project Investment

Approximately $9 Million.

In the photo, the grey circle is the foundation of the tower, and on the other side of the truck the smaller square is the well that will be put into service once the tower is complete!
