About Mustang Special Utility District

We got our start as a water supply corporation in 1966. Today, we proudly serve more than 120,000 customers and have been rated a “Superior Water Company” by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. We strive to provide reliable water services and be a community partner second to none.

Checking for Leaks Using Your Meter

Did you know that it's a good idea after a hard freeze and routinely in the spring to make sure there are no leaks indoors, outdoors or in the irrigation system? Breaks are common during the winter when water freezes and expands inside the pipes, which heightens the potential for leaks. Detecting a leak as soon as possible can prevent damage to your home and save you money on your water bill. Click on the link below to learn four simple steps on how to check for leaks.

Rate Adjustment in Effect February 1, 2024

This month, we sent all Mustang Special Utility District customers a letter letting them know that a rate adjustment was going to go into effect and be part of their February 1, 2024 billing statement. This adjustment was needed due to price increases in all components of our operations, including regulatory compliance requirements, wholesale water, infrastructure construction, equipment and personnel.

Project Spotlight

Stanley Creek Wastewater Project

Challenge

Mustang acquired the treatment plant while it was experiencing a problem with the treatment capacity and operating without a permit.

Solution

Upgrades were made to get the plant permitted and in compliance. Processing increased from 0.03 million gallons per day (MGD) to 0.24 MGD of wastewater. This required adding reinforced steel concrete tanks, electrical equipment, and other additions such as a lab/office building.

Project Investment

Nearly $7.5 million.
