Drought Contingency Plan Stage 1 Schedules

Mustang Special Utility District took a proactive approach to water conservation by implementing Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan.

Effective immediately, all customers are expected to adhere to the outdoor watering schedules above. Customers should only use automatic irrigation systems or hose-end sprinklers between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 am. As a reminder, irrigation is not considered an authorized use of a construction hydrant meter.

Watering 1 Inch: What Does that Mean?

It’s easy to say that 1 inch of water is all your yard needs weekly to achieve the lush green look most homeowners (and HOAs) covet, but what does that mean? Watering your lawn 1 inch looks a little different for everyone, and depends on a few factors including:

  • Lawn Size
  • Sprinkler location
  • Sprinkler output

Learn how to determine what 1 inch looks like for your lawn at the link to our blog below!

Now that the smoke has cleared from the Fireworks, we’d like to say thank you to the Gunter community for having us out at the July 4th Fireworks in the Park event! Employee Spotlight

Dana - Development Inspector

Meet our dedicated Development Inspector, Dana, who has been with Mustang Special Utility District for 8 years. In this role, he oversees and inspects the work done by utility contractors installing water and wastewater lines to connect to the Mustang system. Dana’s efforts ensure that customers feel confident in Mustang as their water and wastewater provider, as he has been involved from the start of development.

A typical day in this role involves a balancing act of planning, answering communications, performing inspections, attending pre-construction meetings, and conducting final walkthroughs of developments. Dana, and his counterpart’s, involvement spans from the project's inception to its completion.

Dana enjoys working at Mustang because of the supportive work environment and the resources provided to excel in his role. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends at the pool or water parks.

Mustang Special Utility District is so fortunate to benefit from Dana’s hard work and dedication. There is no one better to ensure our water and wastewater systems are Second to None from the very beginning!

Project Spotlight

Mustang is in the process of drilling a new well adjacent to our satellite office in Gunter.

Challenge

As the population in Mustang Special Utility District's service area continues to grow in the north, additional means of water production are needed to meet customer demand, especially during peak times.

Solution

Mustang contracted with C Miller Drilling to drill this well, increasing the water supply in the Gunter area.

Project Investment

Approximately $4.1 Million.

Upon completion at the end of the summer, this well will extend over 2,600 feet into the earth!

This project is an important step in growing our system, staying on top of demand and serving our customers.
