Safe Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival-
Students should not arrive before 7:35 am to Marquette. Our staff starts their work day at 7:35 am, so there is no supervision available before this time. We want to make sure our students are safely supervised and have a safe location during inclement weather.
Dismissal-
When students are dismissed they should head to their after school location or bus. Teachers work to have all students out of the building by 2:52.
If you are picking up your child please be at Marquette by 2:55.
If students are not picked up at the end of dismissal, then we will ask them to come into the office as most staff ends their day at 3:05 pm. Our school office closes at 3:15 pm. Therefore, we do not have staff supervision for students. If students are not picked up after school we will make every effort to contact the family or emergency contacts. If necessary, we may call Child Protective Services or Madison Police Department for assistance.
The playground is not supervised by school staff after dismissal. Students should be with an adult to supervise if they are staying after school to play.
If students are walking or biking alone, then we ask them to check in at home or at a friend's house before returning to the playground.
This allows us to ensure that all students have connected with a safe and responsible adult at the end of the day.
If your child is meeting an O'Keefe student, please make sure both students have a plan for this process. Marquette students should meet the O'Keefe student near the O'Keefe door the middle schooler exits, so they are able to connect.
Please make after school plans with your child before they come to school. This includes play dates. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and if you need to change an after school plan during the school day, please call the school office. At the end of the day, we ask students to follow the plan they agreed upon with an adult at home.
If you need after school care then, Red Caboose, Goodman Community Center, and Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center are common providers used by Marquette families.
Contact Information-
Please keep phone numbers for contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts updated in Infinite Campus. For safety reasons, it is important that we be able to contact you or another responsible adult.
Drive Safely
As the school year approaches please make the safety of children a priority as you drive through school zones. This is especially important during arrival and dismissal times when there are more pedestrians, cyclists, buses, and cars in the area. We appreciate your efforts in keeping all our students safe!
