Wisconsin Student Immunization law requires that all students entering the 6th grade receive a dose of Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis). At the beginning of 6th grade, parents must provide O'Keeffe with proof of immunization or claim a waiver. This vaccine is available from your child's primary care provider. Please consult with your child's provider before summer to avoid the late summer rush at clinics. If your child is uninsured, has BadgerCare or Medical Assistance, has “major medical insurance” (only covering hospitalization; no preventive care coverage), or is Native American or Alaska Native, vaccines can be received from the local public health department. For more information on Tdap and school requirements please see this document: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p0/p00039.pdf . Please contact our school nurse, Jill Speer, at 608-204-3235 with any questions.

Dear Marquette Families,
It's been a year! What a year. In Music, we were singing, drumming, learning ukulele, and creating on keyboards. Students studied different musicians every month, found connections to social and racial justice, realized music as a vehicle for protest, change, and celebration, and worked in community with one another.
In May we hosted Elliot and Mary Funmaker, members of the Ho-Chunk Nation, and learned about their culture, music, and deep connections to the area they call "Dejope" (and we call Madison). You can see them in Madison on July 20, when the Funmakers and their ensemble, The Wisconsin Dells Singers & Dancers perform on the Capitol lawn for the free Concert on the Square - The Planets & Ho-Chunk.
Despite continued challenges, your children have shown up and engaged in meaningful learning in so many ways this year. It is a joy to be one of their teachers!
Wishing you all a really great summer.
Ms. Kazda
