East T-STEM Academy
Inspire. Challenge. Equip.
The rain was no match for Mustang enthusiasm as our students and students from mid-south middle and high schools participated in the annual E-Day Event at the University of Memphis Friday, October 25 th . The event features tours and demonstrations from each of the engineering and technology programs offered in the U of M College of Engineering. Our students had a great time touring the labs and watching the demonstrations but most of all, they enjoyed the competitions! East T-STEM was represented by a strong team of twenty-eight students who competed in eight different events.
Over 3000 students participated, but we came away with awards in four competitions!

2019 FREEDOM AWARD HONOREES

Our Mustangs attended the Freedom Award which is the museum's signature event that honors outstanding individuals for their significant contributions to civil and human rights. This year's honorees were
HAFSAT ABIOLA,
GLORIA STEINEM and
JOHN LEGEND .
For the past 28 years, the National Civil Rights Museum has presented The Freedom Award, which honors those who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of civil and human rights. The Freedom Award honorees represent some of the most outspoken activists in the ongoing pursuit of civil rights both domestically and internationally.Every year Freedom Award honorees are featured at the Student Forum. This exciting event, sponsored by International Paper, was designed to specifically address young people and inspire them to take action and stand for something meaningful in their communities.
