Dear Shepherd Community,
The past two days have been very exciting!
Greeting our students each morning as they arrive, eager to explore and discover, is definitely one of the highlights of my job.
Likewise, the transformation of our courtyard and the creation of our atrium continue to take my breath away.
As stated on our marquee, Shepherd is truly one 'jewel of a school.'

City-Wide Community Engagement Meetings with the Deputy Mayor of Education (DME) (8/30, 9/7)
The Office of Family and Public Engagement has partnered with the Deputy Mayor of Education to support a citywide discussion on how DCPS can continue to rise and thrive through a Chancellor transition. This series of meetings will provide parents and community members the opportunity to share their hopes and dreams for DCPS as we transition to a new Chancellor. The feedback gathered at these citywide meetings will be shared with the new Chancellor. These meetings are projected to draw large numbers of attendees and we want your school community to be represented at these events. To ensure parents have an opportunity to attend these meeting we recommend that your Back to School Night not be scheduled on 8/30 and 9/7 if you can help it - citywide meetings will take place at Roosevelt and Eastern respectively. OFPE will share additional information on these meetings as it becomes available. For information on the Chancellor selection process, visit http://dcpsrising.dc.gov/ or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
