Meet Jennell Alexander who is the candidate
for 1st Vice President of the PTA:

Candidate Statement - Jennell Alexander
Hello Shepherd Community. My name is Jennell Alexander and I am running for 1st Vice President of the Shepherd PTA. I am the proud mother of two Shepherd students, Savannah, 5th grade and Xavier, PK-4.

This is our third year at Shepherd ES. Since joining the school, both my husband and I have been active participants in the school community; by serving as room parents, participating in fund raising events, sitting on community boards
for the advancement of education in DC public schools, and helping to found the NW Saturday Academy, an engineering and technology program for elementary students, grades 3-5.

In my professional career, I work as a Program Manager for the surgical division at Children's Hospital. I am also an active participant with the Girls Scouts, where I serve as a Cookie parent coordinator for my daughter's troop.

My husband, Christopher and I are grateful for the wonderful experience we have had at Shepherd thus far and look forward to another 6 years. Shepherd is one of the best schools in the city. If selected, I look forward to increasing parental engagement, serving as a liaison with school and administration and advocating for issues concerning parents and students.
