East T-STEM Academy
Inspire. Challenge. Equip.
The school grandly sits on top of a hill at Poplar and Holmes, looking from a distance more like a small, wealthy college campus than a high school.

East High School
To appreciate where we are going as a school, take a moment and learn about the history of East High School.

Did you know that the first day of school was in September 1948?

You can even view a video of the first day of school at East by clicking here!

Special thanks to Ken Welch, editor in chief, and Apro Network Specialists who sponsor the East High Alumni website.

Facing History and Ourselves
at the Orpheum Theater
A Conversation with Anthony Ray Hinton
Presented by Facing History and Ourselves and International Paper in partnership with The Orpheum Theatre.
Facing History and Ourselves and International Paper presented a conversation with Anthony Ray Hinton, author of The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row, a powerful account of human dignity and hope and the fight for justice. Mr. Hinton was wrongly convicted of two murders outside of Birmingham, Alabama, in 1985, and spent nearly 30 years on death row before he was exonerated in 2015. Today, Mr. Hinton works as a Community Educator for the Equal Justice Initiative.
This event brought together hundreds of students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members from across the Greater Memphis area.
