Today is a Special Day!

The wild stormy weather of yesterday is gone and we have beautiful sunshine today to celebrate Beverly's 2nd Birthday! February 5th is also a special day for me because it's the anniversary of when I first visited Ball & Skein in Cambria and saw that sign in the shop window that changed my life. What an adventure I've been having.

We'll be sipping and stitching tonight in the shop from 4-6PM. And I'm delighted to share details about the Central Coast Yarn Lovers Appreciation weekend happening on March 8-9. There is a gift awaiting you at every shop! Keep reading to learn more.

Merino Linen by cowgirlblues

I have a new yarn to add to my favorites list...Merino Linen by cowgirlblues! Merino Linen is designed to be lightweight and perfect for everyday wear in a range of seasons. The large merino wool component gives a beautifully soft feel and the linen and viscose bring a lightness to the fibre. It’s a great choice for sweaters, shawls, and blankets.

I've started off with 18 semi-solid colors that are hand dyed, giving the yarn a beautiful range of color intensity within each shade. The linen and viscose don’t absorb the color and provide a fine natural colored fleck that is more noticeable on darker colors. The nuances make your finished projects come alive. It's Fingering Weight and each 100 gram skein has ~400 yards. Coordinating variegated colorways are currently being dyed for the shop and should arrive in early March.

If you're a linen fan, also check out Milo from Manos del Uruguay, Modern Linen from Berroco, and Zooey from Juniper Moon Farm.

Lykke Interchangeable Needle Sets

I received lots of requests for interchangeable needle sets using screw-in rather than click technology for attaching cords. I sampled a Lykke birchwood set for about 3 months and fell in love with them. So I've started selling them in the shop.

The Lykke Interchangeable Needle Sets are available in starter sets and full sets with your choice of 3.5 inch or 5 inch tips. Each beautiful & sustainable set of colorful, interchangeable needles is both gorgeous & functional. Crafted from smooth birchwood, the polished needles have a warm, pleasant feel in hand. Smooth & snag-free, yarn glides effortlessly along the needles. Memory-free cords secure to the needles & lock into place with a quick turn of the tightening key. The needles come in a snapping case with an elastic secured spot for each needle set, as well as a zippered & smaller snapping pocket for notions.

Lykke cords are also now available in a variety of sizes. These cords are compatible with other screw-in needle sets.
