National Birth Defects Prevention Month
National Birth Defects Prevention Month is designated to raise awareness of birth defects and promote strategies that reduce the risk of birth defects and their complications. Not all birth defects can be prevented. However, research shows that certain behaviors and health choices can reduce the risk of having a baby born with a birth defect.
The QCARE Maternity Management Program is available to participating plans to help members enjoy a healthy pregnancy and deliver a healthy newborn. A Special Additions nurse acts as an advisor and guide, coaching members and sharing information.
